So i had the idea of keeping all the junk email i got these year in the deleted items folder just to see how much i would get and now outlook express wont open. :lol i think i just broke 3000 junk emails yesterday. I tried system restore and that did nothing. when i click on the icon it just makes the error beep and nada. :lol

where on my hard drive are the text files sitting? is there a way to get to em and delete em? i dont wanna reinstall outlook cuz i dont wanna lose the actual valuable emails. help! :)

If you persist in using OE, though, here is a page detailing the location of the OE user files: http://www.attention-to-details.com/newslog/379-location-outlook-express-files-on.asp

They end in the .dbx extension, so you can find them with a search. All emails are stored in these .dbx files, which are databases of a sort. Sorry, they're not stored in individual files, so it's all or nothing.

Try installing Thunderbird or Outlook and importing the email from OE, those might handle it better.

Um, the actual emails as long as you don't delete them, should still be on your original mail server. so say if you're using outlook to check your yahoo mail, i believe that everything should still be on yahoo as long as you don't delete it from outlook or yahoo.

nah. they stay in yahoo until you open outlook. :( i'm gonna try the .dbx thing. thanks! oops. just reread. :( so if i install full outlook wil it automatically import or prompt me to import emails?

No, that's on an IMAP account. He's on POP.

Barnimal: Yes, but seriously, try Thunderbird first.

Most excellent.

And thanks for ignoring all that stuff about Thunderbird. Really. No need to trust your neighborhood IT guy. Nope nope nope.
