Aphelion (from Dontnod) releases 2026

I like space horror but I'm putting my chips on directive 8020.
me too

DONTNOT was really a one hit wonder. Shame.
DontNod began with Remember Me which was pushing the limits of Unreal on PS3 back then. And LiS also ran and looked actually nice compared to Telltale stuff. Both games had some fun ideas too, actually trying stuff.
I guess not everyone needs exploding budgets of current gen, one flop away from studio shutdown, but DontNod seems to be stuck in the past or evolve into a low budget/ Indie studio with all their work of late? Ever since Vampyr they seem to aim low(er than before).

Ah shit I forgot about Remember Me, it was pretty good.

Soo. White males only want to play as white males? Last time I checked they're more than happy to play as little Japanese schoolgirls, big black wizards or fucking lizards and cats.
I'd be fine if they reverted back to her:

I know you wish you could change it, but ya can't. This game will fail very hard for them.

That's so strange the reveal trailer did not show nor mention at all that this was a dual protagonist game.

But after reading more into it...

The dual-protagonist structure means you will experience the game from two different perspectives and playstyles.

Ariane Montclair
  • Playstyle: Her gameplay is physically driven, focusing on exploration and traversal. You will use tools like a grappling hook to navigate Persephone's harsh and treacherous landscapes.
  • Role: As Ariane, you'll be on a journey to find your wounded partner, Thomas, while facing the dangers of the planet.

Thomas Cross
  • Playstyle: Since he is injured in the crash, Thomas's gameplay relies more on investigation and deduction. His approach is more cerebral, piecing together clues to figure out what happened to their ship, the Hope-01.
  • Role: As Thomas, you'll use observation and intellect to survive while being hunted by an alien creature known as "The Nemesis".

Now I know why. Thomas's parts are boring probably?

I honestly think the game would have been better had they swapped roles for these action and more puzzle like parts. It would been received better.

Strong black woman though, ohhh

Still though, not showing it's a dual player game is a bit disingenuous. Their latest trailer shows it fortunately.

Even though it looks too walk-simmy for me taste, I might have checked it out to see cool space landscapes or whatever, but ugly MC = I'm out.

Why can't we have attractive main characters in Western-produced games and entertainment media anymore?

Is it really too much to ask?

You include a black female MC for the sake of "muh inclusion" and then make her fugly as sin... for what!?!.... Who is this for!!?? Black grannies don't play videogames. And black women love seeing sexy black women in media. It's why their entire IG feeds are full of slay queens and IG baddies. FFS!
