Apple iPhone 6S |OT|

No way bro. Don't even say that.

Need to find a phone to upgrade to if that's true.

He just did a Periscope broadcast and said flat out he thinks it's still 1GB, but I guess we'll still have to wait and see.

I would have thought for sure with the 3D touch and all of the "peeks" you can do in apps that they'd need more than a gig but maybe not.

my mother is going to get her first iPhone. Trying to decide for her between the 6 and 6s. I think it's worth the $100 for 6s normally, but am concerned that holding down the screen will be too complicated for her. Kind of leaning towards regular 6.

The iPhone upgrade program is nearly identical to T-Mobile Jump. Finance the full price of the phone and it looks like an extra $5 on top of that (t-mobile has an extra $10). You get to upgrade once half the phone is paid off(12 payments), and you get a protection plan with it (t-mobile offers lost and stolen protection tho).

I do a similar thing with T-Mobile (Jump on Demand) except I get the iPhone 6S+ for $19 per month instead of the $40 per month Apple charges. I don't have a warranty, but I can swap to an android or ios phone at my leisure up to 3 times per year.

t-mobile's JOD is a lease tho, plus you don't get warranty and that $19 a month plan was a special promo that's not going on anymore. The 6S+ will be $31 a month unless t-mobile announces a similar promo (though for you it'll still be that $19).

Question...
I read that ATT is no longer offering the 2 year contract price through Apple Store, but it can still be purchased through the ATT website or store direct.

Does the iPhone usually go on sale at the Att store at the same time as the Apple Store?

so the new phones can use old cases right? I bought a 6 plus on sunday and didn't buy a case because I know I was gonna return this phone when the new one released so didn't wanna buy a expensive case.

Yeah, no insurance is a risk. T-Mobile has said you can use any insurance you would like. Might get apple care for this upgrade as I already paid apple $100 to replace the screen on this 6+ once.

This Apple plan is a lease as well. You don't own the iPhone unless you make all 24 payments just as I don't own a phone on JoD unless I make all 24 payments. When you never keep a device longer than 12 months what is the point of ownership?

It is a difficult concept for many to accept since car leases are scammy. Lease itself generally has a negative connotation. When the numbers are actually crunched there is only a small difference between a phone lease and phone ownership. This small premium is made up by the convenience of never having to sell phones on craigslist and having the freedom to upgrade on a whim without fronting any cash.

Bendgate 2.0?

I don't see much improvement over the 6 and 6 plus, just different colors. Not sure how much better the a9 cpu is compared to the a8.

Yeah, I've been thinking of doing JOD too, but only if they have a similar promo going on (which looks likely seeing John Legere hint at it on twitter). Didn't bother with the earlier promo since I don't have all that good credit and didn't want to put down a huge down payment on a phone I'll only keep for a few months.

Also, this is more financing then leasing, and with your deal you'll have to pay a buyback fee to keep it (around $200+).

I'm not saying it's a bad deal, with them giving you a $12 credit a month it's pretty good.

The prime difference is JoD months 18-24 are a lump payment whereas a financing deal still has the standard payments through all 24 months.
Either way is a better option than typical carrier contracts. I'm glad they are being done away with so people can understand true device costs and influence pricing as consumers.

Phone contracts are what brought us to overpriced phones in the first place. Hope it's not too late to reverse that direction.

Who's MKBHD? Is he reliable? Would make me feel a lot better waiting for the 7.

that being said, I'm not sure what he based his feeling off of. We still don't know the actual numbers and likely won't until somebody does a teardown or a leak.

I'm curious about this, too. I've always got my phone at Apple Stores, but I don't want to lose my unlimited data...

maybe they'll switch it up and make more RAM a "mainstream" feature - trumpeted at a major conference and described with examples of simple, tangible benefits. for the 7.

but then again maybe they followed tradition and bumped the RAM silently

I still can't decide on regular or plus. I need to go to a different store to try out the phone again since Best Buy had a huge security thing on the back that didn't really let me get a typical handle on the plus.

Urg. What are you all getting? 6s or 6s+?

edit: I'm also really looking forward to hearing about the new motor in the phone.

Plus.

If you like photography, it's worth nothing that the Plus has optical image stabilisation and higher resolution but if you don't it's purely a size thing.

I'm wondering if he's judging by the lagginess and crashes. If the 6s performs as poorly as the 6 i could see how he might be able to make that judgment. Having owned a 6 plus since launch I think I'd be able to tell because the 6 plus is one of the worst performing phones I've ever owned.

As a heavy user I have to hard reset my phone at least twice a day. I'm guessing he put the 6s through its paces somehow with his time with it.

Absolutely night and day from my experience - it performs extremely smoothly. What do you typically do to push your phone so much?

If I manage to get a pre-order in at midnight 9-12 when should I expect to actually have the phone? Someone was telling me it could be months, is that true?

Okay, I'm someone who knows jack shit about phones. I use them for talking, texting, internet, and occasionally some apps like Yikyak and Snapchat. That's it. I currently have a Galaxy S4. I really dislike the lollipop update and was curious to finally go over to the dark side and try an iphone. But I'm told that samsung had the best phone before the Iphone 6s was revealed for reasons I can't remmeber right now. I think they said it had the better camera.

Can someone give me a comprehensive rundown on what I should upgrade to? The new Galaxy that I saw in the store or the new Iphone?

It would be really messed up if they are going with 1gb again. It's really sad when GAF crashes the Safari browser on a regular basis and the Apple Store genius bar told me after I showed them that I need to do more resets and close programs to release ram.

If no 2GB not gonna bother upgrading. I use browsing on my phone more than anything else. Anything more than 3 tabs = crash/reload hell.

So to do the upgrade program I have to be at a store in person? Ugh. I want a phone near launch but don't want to drive an hour. Might just buy outright then :(

I'd be avoiding Samsung phones like the plague. The iPhone 6S is going to be your best bet.

Play games, watch videos but not through the app, play podcasts on music behind games or different apps at the same time, Sling, 3rd party keyboard and add ons to my browser to name a few, maps running in the back if im in the car.

Genius Bar has this thing to run a diagnostic on your phone and i got a big yellow indicator for my ram.

But even something as simple as clicking into a video from gaf or my feedly feed will crash the phone at about a 90 percent likelihood if i haven't rebooted for half a day.

If you manage to order within the first 30-45 minutes you should get it on day 1, within the first 90 minutes probably 2 or 3 weeks later.

I doubt it. As long as you're relatively quick it shouldn't be past October at the absolute worst.

I do pretty much the same things on a jailbroken 6+. Never experienced "crashes" however, I do have to reload tabs in Safari which doesn't matter since it takes a fraction of a second.

I did have a large GIF once tell me the device didn't have the memory to display it. That's about it.

If you are having actual crashes where apps are completely closing or freezing randomly then I think you have a defective unit.

Since you are a light user any of them should work fine for you.

I'll definitely be grabbing a 6s to upgrade from my 5s.

Now just to decide whether to just got with Verizon's new monthly payment plan, or Apple's new upgrade plan that seems to be about $5 a month more, but includes Apple Care plus and ability to upgrade every year rather than every two years...

I should say crash the apps not the phone. It's not like the phone freezes or something. Although the hard freeze has happened a handful of times. Genius bar tells me there is nothing wrong with my phone other than how i use it.

I have always have tons of safari windows open on my falling apart 3 year old iphone 5 and it is fine (pages refresh sometimes, but doesn't crash/explode), how is the 6/+ worse somehow?

Dafuq with AU price rise?! I'm so cut right now

Trade policies, currency fluctuations, expected demand, company policy; just to name a few.

Sure it sucks, but you can't expect imported goods to always remain at the same price when the economic climate is changing.
