Applying for a job online

I never thought I'd leave the company I am currently with, but recently saw a posting with a major global corporation that seems as though it were created just for me. For the application process, you can upload your resume or fill out online information forms. I can see the benefits to either; a well-prepared resume can give me room to shine, but maybe the hiring manager prefers their format? Anyone have experience with this? Last job I applied for my resume was sent to a family friend in HR.

I'd say go with their form and find out the Hiring managers name and perhaps send him/her an email directly with your resume/coverletter.

for my current job, I applied online. Filled out the required form and attached my resume. Got an email back about a day later to set up an interview. Brought a hard copy of my resume to the interview. Got a call back the following week telling me my start date.

Go with the form, I always get called back when I fill out their form, rather than summiting your resume.

Most retail jobs make you apply online now. It is pretty normal.
