I remember rivalries like Sega vs Nintendo, DC vs Marvel, Star Trek vs Star Wars, and Coke vs Pepsi being examples of debates that sparked conversations in the early 90's and mid-2000s.
Now with everything going mainstream and franchises just being a different palette taste, are media rivalries like these dead? I don't seem to hear these types of debates anymore.
It seems like conversations surrounding media franchises now are, they better not fuck it up, or it better makes logical sense this time, or I hope it's not too woke.
We finally got cross-overs with Mario vs Sonic in Smash and other guest characters, but it seems like these rivalries have come to pass.
