Looks like they've taken pointers from HL: Alyx with the more interactive hands. That's great! The original felt a bit dull to play since you couldn't interact with the environment as naturally as in HL: Alyx.

managed to play a few mins last night to check it out (with the upgrade).

and it runs much much much better than the original game, i am thankful for that, the original game was kind of a mess performance wise.

the added interaction is much needed also, hopefully will be able to try it co-op this weekend to see how the networking holds up, but so far it's gets the nod of approval from me

i haven't played 2 but from reviews/impressions it's a more complete and interactive experience where AS1 really is just a corridor shooter.

it's still fun, but you aren't doing much but going from A to B

Both are fairly simple linear campaigns, 2 has the dog though, Buddy, and the script is really good.

I haven't played the remake of 1 yet but they're largely the same game in a sense. I prefer 2 because of the dog, he's such a cool AI companion and is actually useful. Both have coop for the campaign and 3 person for horde mode. Really can't go wrong with either.
