Yeah but I suspect it's a CPU limitation, GPUs aren't doing all the work.

Fixed for the reality as evidenced by ArmA/ArmA2. Not that is a bad thing as it means that usually performance gets better post launch but yeah, don't expect miracles for the Alpha.
Still, so long as it works, and doesn't end up accidentally launching a SCUD at people's computers, I'll end up buying it.
Oh dear :/ does it feel less clunky than ArmA 2?
Feels like a completely different game, the controls are SPOT ON, they are perfect. Best FPS controls I've ever used.

Oh dear I don't stand a chance. I'll be perfectly content with Medium at 1080p on my machine but I doubt that I can pull that off

I'm really interested to know what it runs like on I7 2600k and Gtx 580 or equivalent at 1080. Getting married in a few weeks so have no money for toys.

I laugh every time someone says something not so positive about this game and you are right there to try and 'put them in their place'. You must be a shareholder of some sort because this is beyond just being a fan. Or are you trying to justify to yourself buying 2 Titans?

Take it with a metric shit ton of grains of salt, because i have been just trying it for 15 min on the editor and the first showcase, but performance seems pretty good to me.
I tried with everything on ultra but just 2xAA and 1680x1050 and the default view distances.
I am getting arround 30-40 fps on average, dropping in places like here:

that performance is going to take a hit when you have a firefight with large scale AI

But any way, still disappointed with the initial performance. Looking straight into a hill has my FPS fluctuating around 50-60FPS, it has a hard time keeping 60 unless I look straight down.
Agreed, but it should show of more than 80% sky, 19% grassy hill that looks the same everywhere. I was genuinely asking what was so special about that screenshot but instead of just answering he went into the defensive because he seems to do that whenever someone doesn't like something about this game.
The game is only out for a couple of hours and I gave my thoughts on the screenshots. Unless the only thing that's 'adding' in your book is slimeballing a game like you made it yourself, then yes, I did not contribute. I just said the grass looked like shit and you got your panties in a twist. This just pretty much proves my point. How sad.
