My friend loves this series. I think it looks like crap on the PS2, and doesn't look much different here. It's just a generally ugly game.

I had a continual hard on for this series on the PS1. I thought the entire thing on PS2 was nothing but a rehash of the original game.. what was fresh in 1998 is now old... they need to do something to update this series, especially the horribly outdated controls.

I'm not sure I understand your standard for visual quality. Mario 64 DS is beautiful and Armored Core PSP is ugly?

I'm not sure you understand my standard for logic. I didn't say Mario 64 DS is "beautiful".

Armored Core PSP looks technically better than any DS game that will ever be, but I just don't find the series to be graphically pleasing.

I do believe you said that Mario 64 DS was a great looking title. Which I agree with. What I don't agree with is your assertion that Armored Core for PSP is ugly - especially by handheld standards. I'm sorry that the colors aren't from the rainbow and that it's not all rosy flowered grass and shit, but I don't see how you could see it's not graphically pleasing.

But hey!

They have been updating the controls, if I recall the most recent one actually allows dual analog control as a secondary choice. The biggest problem with the PS2 versions is that the online component is a major step they've taken, but it never gets brought over here since none of the U.S. pubs or From themselves cares to pay for something as simple as a matchmaker server.

I'm still a fan of the AC series though, I'm sure this will be one of my must have PSP titles.

I never actually got into the AC series as much I had thought I would simply because I found the controls too sluggish for my liking. But this one doesn't let you control the mechs directly except to program them. Been awhile since I've touched a 'bot programming game so I'll be interested to see how this one turns out, esp. now that it removes the element of previous AC games that I disliked ;)

Pretty soon people will get used to the idea that the PSP does indeed have visuals comparable with the PS2, and games that look like Gran Turismo 4 will be separated from games that look like this.

The PSP should be judged by the standards of the hardware developers have to work with. I don't think Armored Core is an attractive series of games. I think Jak, Ratchet and Clank, ICO, Metal Gear Solid 3, Wanda, ZOE2, and some others are very attractive games. It has nothing to do with the PSP. I don't like the way this series looks. I don't think Dynasty Warriors or any of its samurai-themed spinoffs is good looking either.

You could save yourself a lot of words by just saying you don't like the art direction.

Seismologist, the PSP has more pixels in its one screen than the DS has in its two screens. If the devs thought they needed a map, they wouldn't have had any problem incorporating it.

Now, if you're paying attention to what's been said about this game, you'd realize you don't actually control the mech directly and hence, don't need a map.

I know you're just lashing out at MAF, but it'd help if you thought it through first ;)
