Arrowhead CEO Will Never Add a PvP Mode to Helldivers 2 to Reduce Toxic Elements From the Community

If you want that game, it's on it's way. It's free to play, and it's called ARC Raiders. It was just going to be PVE, but it was looking a little too much like The First Descendant, which is being published by the same publisher. It's now going to be a PVPVE extraction shooter.

Interesting. Do people really get more mad when it's vs human?
I guess I havent seen people get mad at losing co-op games.

Helldivers isn't that type of game anyway.

A separate PvP arena could be fun or a special zone with aliens controlled by players but this game is a core coop shooter and should focus on its strenght.

It would legit ruin the fun of the game having to worry about loadouts that kill both players and pve aspect. Plus the game is already pvp if you're a cunt and just kill players on your team.

Honestly the only PvP that would fit perfectly with Helldivers 2 would be something similar to Exoprimal's, where two teams are racing to complete objectives against swarms of creatures.

Sounds great.

The sense of community and this 'galactic' war that everybody is contributing to in this game really is astounding. It's perfect as it is! ❤️

Rarely a game can do fine in both PvP and PvE in my experience.
The one that comes to mind is the early days of Division 1, where dark zone felt balanced and fights had duration and were always fun no matter the outcome.
I prefer it when they stick with either PvP or PvE and optimize all system mechanics based on their choice.

A little worrying that he doesn't know there are plenty of non toxic PvP games out there.

Mehcad Brooks Wow GIF by Law & Order

Care to name them?

In terms of online, I only play Overwatch and Dead by Daylight, but lord knows there's a ton of toxicity among a decent amount of players, even in non-ranked matches in Overwatch.

Toxicity in certain players of major IPs like Call of Duty and Halo are well known.

I've not played Nintendo games using voice chat, but I have serious doubts there's no toxicity there too. Smash Bros. in particular, at the very least I know there's a good amount of rage quitters there.

Hot take : he's a ceo he could not add anything to the game even if he wanted to. Paying devs to do the work on the other hand...

Hotter take : that moron doesn't even see that the real problem with video games is fightning time and again. The prevalent mean of communication of the medium is violence. Towards whom it is unleashed matters little really.

To reduce the toxic stink from the nerd community they should have a system that force any helldiver to take at least a shower every day.

In 2020's it seems like most if not all PvP games become weird sweatfests with all the people using the same META loadouts inspired by Twitch streamers. It's a different experience all together.

Good.

Right now there's an amazing sense of community as everybody is working towards the same goal.

There's no need for PvP anyway.
You can have both ways.. you can say that you dont want your game to be PvP because you envisioned this way.. and leave at that.... without making this snowflakish argument

But I agree with the sentiment that not every game needs pvp

You're not wrong. In Overwatch non-ranked (where one would think people would be chill as nothing is at stake), you'll get some teammates who yell at you if you're not at 100% efficiency the entire match (even ignoring their own shortcomings. I once had an Ana yelling at my Sombra for having low kills, but a quick look showed I had done more healing that match than her, and I'm a DPS and she's the support! It's almost like the DPS can't get kills as often without support assisting them!) and you'll sometimes run into opposing teams who act perfectly coordinated so they're clearly grouped up which begs the question why they're in Quick Play and not a Competitve match.

Then in Dead by Daylight, the Hillbilly killer recently got buffed. You'll never guess who 80+% of the killers I have gone up against since then are…..

I meant no need for PvP in this game.

No PVP Is a great move.
It would just sink into endless support moaning on weapon balancing.

Shitty skins and battlepasses that expire.

The moment they add it , the moment it becomes a cookie clutter game and sinks into the COD/APEX bullshit cycle.

No one sensible wants this.

Good.

But give it a week or two for the Reddit Approved Meta to emerge and you will have people teamkilling you if you don't come with the correct hyper-optimized loadout that is 1.5% better than what you have.

That very short sighted there. Saying PvP all toxic. Man, I have been only pve games and they can be just as toxic. Like take monster hunter. Don't get me wrong. 90% of times everything is great. But there toxic ppl in all types of media and genres of games. So this dude need to change his pr better lol

The dude is the CEO of the company. I'd much prefer this honesty over sanitized PR.
