I'd still like a more direct response to the query I made a few posts up. There are several people on the first page of this thread alone who aren't protecting either game. Is the assumption then that they aren't part of the gaming hardcore?
No, of course not. :)

...their status as untouchable, at least in the more pretentious (and bandwagon happy) elements of the gaming press. Of course there will be dissenting voices in forums. But any flaws they may have are consistently overlooked because they are so artsy and wonderful. Look at the coverage of Wanda for instance. It’s something of a joke. The game’s never even been seen and it’s already assured top-tier marks that I expect will overlook any flaws. Simply because it’s stabled with ICO and therefore shares its protection.

Since when did "gaming hardcore" become simply "elements of the gaming press"? Who exactly are these dissenting voices then?

I'm more worried about when "the gaming press" became universally snooty and hardcore. :P

I'm sorry you live in Britain, man, but don't hold that against me.

But the point is that you didn't actually say anything. You seem to have come to the conclusion that this is about the merits of ICO/REZ... It's not. It's about their status as untouchable, at least in the more pretentious (and bandwagon happy) elements of the gaming press. Of course there will be dissenting voices in forums. But any flaws they may have are consistently overlooked because they are so artsy and wonderful. Look at the coverage of Wanda for instance. It’s something of a joke. And words continue to flow out of your anus. Ico and Rez did not score all that well in the press (I should know, I reviewed one of the games in EGM). There is no "protection." People bitch about Rez and Ico all the time. Your thesis has been disproven not just in this thread, but on GAF on a monthly basis and, if you'd actually go and dig up reviews of both games, you'd see that they probably didn't score as well as you think. But you know what? Both those games ARE artsy and wonderful AND they're full of fucking flaws. Both games consistently create monster threads where people debate their relative value all the goddamn time. You admit yourself it's a forum thing. The press, on the other hand, may have fond memories of Rez and Ico, but when was the last time you saw an article specifically praising or discussing the merits of either game?

And Wanda? What the fuck are you talking about? People cover Wanda because IT LOOKS REALLY NEAT. The press covers games they're excited about. Whee, it isn't rocket science. It's really not that hard to understand. Which publication has already assured Wanda "top-tier marks"?

These conclusions you've arrived at are delusional. And when people point them out, you start name calling and flinging insults. That makes you a dick.

I stand corrected. Purposefully taking discussion out of context is indeed more desperate. Britain? What are you on about?

Please, can we leave logic out of this thread?

Based on Folder's one line non-response to your query, I'd say he's all out of bullshit.

so much for that tag about your hot wife. :lol I think the goodwill GAF has shown Spong and yourself because of that revelation of your hot wife is now officially over.

What am I on about?

I am speaking the only language your pinheaded posting record has proven it can understand: baseless ad hominen attacks. The reason I don't talk to you is that you're not worth talking to. The problem is you, not us.

having the good sense not to read most of or post in this thread -- not to toot my own horn, i just hate frustration -- i must say... good riddance.

Folder's just playing Little Miss Disingenuous for laughs. I haven't seen any epidemic of ICO/Rez worship from the press. At worst, the folks at a few alterno gaming websites pimped them rather heavily after release, and that's fine: the artistry that went into both games makes them merit notice above the usual plasticky, grey-and-brown EA Trax faux-realistic drek. They've NEVER been unassailable. They simply have a number of FANS, as do many games, who are willing to defend them. WELCOME TO THE AMAZING WORLD OF WEB FORUMS. Only an idiot conflates web forum sentiment to industry reality, and only a troll then ascribes that sentiment to the influence of the gaming media sans concrete examples. As for Wanda: lotsa folks liked Ico, and the team developing Wanda is talented. Why shouldn't folks be excited for it over, say, the latest tits-and-guns Majesco offering or dun-colored military fetish title?

Frankly, other than watching Folder gerrymander his original argument into a place where he doesn't look like a total gawping shitheel, there's no reason to keep this thread open. I'm sure we'll get plenty of eye-rolling Spong-flavored masturbatory efforts in other threads.
