I've been curious if the art folks around here had branched out into doing a lot of the art as vector art or not. I'm particularly curious because I have some 'stuff' coming up that does a lot of things with vector art and I'd like to chat with any of you who specialize in vector artwork.

I have a classmate who does it. He says it's very hard to explain, though.

I don't do "art" like the guys here do. But most of my job(making signs) is constitued of manipulating vectors.


edit: very curious as to the "stuff". I lack the artisitic talent to do anything "wow" with vectors. =*(

I would if I knew how. It's very clean, not always incredibly detailed, but it can be. Vector tracing is the same thing or no?

What exactly is vector art?

Vector graphics or geometric modeling is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons to represent images in computer graphics. It is used by contrast to the term raster graphics, which is the representation of images as a collection of pixels (dots).

Or to get even closer to laymens terms:

vector art == Flash type stuff

raster art == Photoshop type styff
