Asphalt GT vs. Ridge Racer DS

By half of your statements here alone you have proven that you ahven't even played the game. Go play it, then come back and bitch about it. The game has plenty of speed and the collision detection, although a little goofy is fine for a handheld game.

What? Dude, if you honestly think the game has a great sense of speed or even sufficient collision detection you either have the world's biggest blinders on or you are so irrational that it's not even worth trying to get through to you.

The collision detection of RRDS is not acceptable. It's not even passable. It's horrible. And the fact that they couldn't be "bothered" to polish the game enough to fix even the most rudimentary of problems proves that they couldn't give a shit about the game either. The fact that you're so willing to accept such utter garbage... and not just regular garbage, but hand-me-down garbage... proves that you'd be willing to lower your standards for ANYTHING that opens with a little Nintendo logo.

"LOL BAD COLLISION DETECTION ITS GOOFY BUT FOR HANDHELD IT IS OK?"

Don't you see how you sound? It's not ok. Handheld gaming has proven it can be infinitely better and it should be. Period.

HuH, well I cant wait to see how dissapointed you are in Ridge Races then. if you think RRDS has a bad sense of speed then dont even go look at the video of Ridge Racers over at IGN. the game is very smooth and the lighting is incredeble but man, it is SLOOOOW looking. You wnat to talk about a lack of sense of speed then Ridge Racers takes it over RRDS. Again though, you have played niether and I have only played one!

Edit: The collision detection doesnt bother me that much or even at all. maybe later on it might, but I'm just having fun with it. i find it hard to believe that you would like anything at all.

Coming from a gay male, nothing about this comment surprises me in the very least.

The comment has nothing to do with whether or not I prefer the company of wang, the fact is, when it comes to arcade style racers these days - EA is pouring out the same street racing shit all the time. Beetle Adventure Racing was original and FUN, it had some of the best track design ever and did not rely on titties and gangsta's to sell the game!

If you're going to continue implying that I am lying to you about what I have and have not played you'd be better off just conceding that you have no viable argument behind your love of Ridge Racer DS. I'm not even going to reply to your hilariously fucking stupid Ridge Racers (PSP) assertion. I'll leave that baby alone.

You find it hard to believe I would like anything at all? Oh, I like quite a few things. And some of those things happen to be racing games that don't suck! Funny how that works.

Beetle Adventure Racing is way better than 99% of the shit EA puts out these days. UNDERGROUND GANGSTA TITTY RACER EXTREME 2005 4 LIFE YO.
Uhhh...Children. I OWN Beetle Racing you tard. I know how great it is. That doesn't mean I want it to come out on the DS. As it stands now, I could do without ANY fucking ports coming to the DS.

RR: DS 7.5 VS GT Asphault 5.5

WoW guess that says it all huh, Amir0x

Also, how is my comment on Ridge Racers for the PSP assinine? It is smooth but does NOT give a great sense of speed in those newest videos(by your account of RR:DS) I think you are the one with the blinders on!

RRDS does have shitty-ass collision detection. Later levels will punish you to ungodly extremes because of the sloppy efforts of the debugging team. This game also should have addressed the AI difficulty a little bit better. The last few races are very hard, and require precise movement, which is nearly impossible using the D-pad or touchpad controls. What occurs is a lot of wall-banging, oversteering and overcorrecting. As a result you get crunched from behind by the AI opponents, which magically throws you backwards.

Now, I won't bitch about the awesome wireless play, which is flawless in my opinion. Playing against good ol humans is much more gratifying than cheating son-of-a-bitch computers.

IGN handheld have poor reviews.
No shit. Craig gives 90% of the GBA releases around an 8.0 on average.

On Ridge Racers PSP, I'm extremely pumped for this game. As flawed as RRDS was, it still provided me with that Ridge Racer high I felt so many times before. The course design was still awesome as was the sense of speed. PSP RRs will only add to my recently revived enjoyment of the series.

As for the PSP lack of speed, go watch THIS video and tell me thats 100+ mph. Yeah right! If this was anything but a Sony system people would be screaming bloody murder (xbox? forza?)

Damn, that looks fucking beautiful. Slow, but beautiful nonetheless. And the music has me wetting my pants. I LOVE RIDGE RACER!

YES BECUZ REVIEW SCORES MAKE A GAME BETTAR!!!11 I AM DEFEATED!@@L!

Just having played RRDS it does have a great sense of speed. Almost too great to the point that it's hard to play. But it does give you that breathless feeling at times.

No, you are defeated because you are trying to discredit a game for faults you have no clue about, other than 3rd party comments. play the game first.

Dude, you are so fucking stupid that it's painful. Every single comment you make literally defies the laws of nature, progressively magnifying your lack of intelligence to Gladiator-like levels. So I'll say it one more time. And if your following comment implies that I am lying, we're going to have a talk of a more serious nature.

I have not only played and BEAT both Ridge Racer 64 and Ridge Racer DS, but my experience in them likely exceeds your own - whereas you are still playing it, I have already dusted both games. Whereas you 'played RR 64 in passing', I owned it at one point. This is the last time I'm going to clarify my statements. Don't let it happen again.

:lol dont burst a blood vessle dude. This is the internet, its a video game forum! Anyway, sorry if I missunderstood. You keep saying there is a lack of speed in RRDS, what kind of speed do you want? It would be unplayable if it ran any faster. Also, you beat it in three days!!!! How do you do it when you are posting so much on these forums?

The game is not actually long. If there's a challenge that's hard to overcome it adds to the time, obviously, but like all Ridge Racer games the length is not really incredible. You could beat the game in less than six hours if you put your mind to it.

Anyway, I didn't say anything about it "running" fast - I said the sense of speed is not good. Now, I'm not saying it needs to be like F-Zero GX, but at times it felt like I was driving a fucking go-kart. I can't believe you haven't noticed it. Ah! Gamespot noticed it!

Conveying a good sense of speed is something that most racing games do pretty well these days. While Ridge Racer DS's top speeds feel like you're moving pretty quickly, anything less than that feels like you're standing still. When you're doing 80mph, it really feels more like 25.

This is exactly the case.

Also, if you want to have a "battle of the reviews", 1ups review more closely resembles what I feel the game is like. They gave it a 2.5. Personally I think that score is too low... but I would be fine giving it a 5/10.

The Ridge Racer series may still have legs -- we'll see how the PSP version's turned out when it debuts later this month -- but this particular example of the concept has gone badly wrong. By a fair margin, this is the worst Ridge Racer we've played.

And it's true. It's the worst Ridge Racer game ever made.
