Assasins Creed LAUNCH Trailer

For those who were not aware, Jesper Kyd was responsible for the soundtrack. I've heard another sample song from the game that was also fantastic. I assume the trailer music this time is his work (certainly sounds like it).

Really bland trailer. Trailers are to make someone want go out and see the full movie, or buy the full product. This doesn't show me any reason why I should go out and buy the game; all I see is a guy moving around a city, scaling a few parts of buildings, and then getting into a fight or two. Wheres the substance?

Am I a freerunner or an assassin? Help me out, here, Ubisoft, cause certainly I can't be both!

I understand your point. But at the same time, game trailers are meant to build hype. Look how successful the Halo3 commercials were, even without any gameplay footage whatsoever!

Rubbish trailer. The jerky, glitchy music and editing doesn't suit the game at all, and it doesn't show off anywhere near the extent of the acrobatics you're able to do - the biggest draw and most impressive thing of the entire game.

The substance is in the desire to see more. Movies are doing the same thing...creating desire with a minimalist approach. Pretty much every game company (except Nintendo) is doing it with their trailers too...to take a more cinematic approach.

What do you think this game is about?

Of course, Ubi has also released these trailers:

I'd say the old Assassin's Creed CG trailer was much better, although I think the ending could have been much better done. They could have showed more acrobatic maneuvers and dropped the voice over.

For comparison sake, I'd say the Zelda:TP in-game trailer had much better excellent, non-repetitive music with good editing and scenes that showcased the game pretty well.

These facts have greatly increased my interest in the game. I absolutely love some of the music of the Hitman games.

Sounds like Jesper likes to listen to Yoko Kanno. There is a track that sounds strikingly similar on the Escafowne soundtrack. Only difference other than changing the key were the "phat beats" in the middle. Still going to get this game but people almost copying someone else's tunes gets to me.

Eh, I dunno, I'll have to listen again to compare, but it certainly didn't strike me as a copy (and I'm a huge fan of her work, so I'm pretty familiar with most of it).

Nearly everything Jesper Kyd composes sounds quite original, however. He's hardly the type of guy that would copy someones work.

My interest in the game is coming back. I'll wait for the reviews.

Same here. Really was happy that I wasn't planning on getting it since I was going to get Mass Effect on the 20th. Now I'm going to have to get both.

I don't really like going to class anyway.

Too many good games coming out, not enough money?

Thats a common problem, but a good one to have.

It is not an exact copy because I am sure he is smart enough not to rip anyone completely. Just listen to the pacing and the tone, while not the same notes it follows the formula almost exactly to one of her tunes. It could almost be considered an homage, not a copy but very similar.

Kanno's tune came instantly to mind when I heard this and I'm pretty good with remembering music.

Going to class isn't the problem for me... It's the research papers I should be doing... (Fuck you holiday season)

Yup, I found the tune. For the three people who care and have the second Escaflowne soundtrack, play track 9: Shadow of Doubt. I would say the first 30 seconds heavily inspired the track in the trailer.

See now if this was one of those games where you didnt know anything about it, and then they released this trailer, everyone would be thinking goty and better than sliced bread. Guaranteed. Very high quality looking game.

Im sure the acrobatic gameplay will be more than enough to supplement anything that might be wrong with the combat.
