Assassin’s Creed Shadows was Europe’s best-selling new game of 2025

The story and writing in the game was pure trash man. The only salvageable part is the gameplay and graphics which are good but the rest was so forgettable. I miss the old AC where story and characters were interesting

For some reason this videogame makes some people really mad. You can already see it in the knee jerk responses here. It's kinda funny, and also kinda pathetic.

I enjoyed my time with the game. No interesting in pursuing the DLC but the core game was fun to play.

It beat Monster Hunter Wilds? That's incredibly hard to believe...

The game was at meager 5 million players in July (so probably around 4-4.7 million copies sold). Wilds sold 10 million copies by March and is probably at around 11-12 million now. I know it's just Europe, but Wilds' distribution must be insanely skewed towards NA and Japan for this to be the case. It must have sold a small % in Europe.

2. Assassin's Creed Shadows (Ubisoft)
3. Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar)
4. Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar)
5. Hogwarts Legacy (Warner Bros)
6. Split Fiction (EA)
7. Monster Hunter Wilds (Capcom)
8. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Activision Blizzard)
9. Mario Kart World (Nintendo)*
10. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (Plaion)
11. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (Bethesda)
12. Star Wars Battlefront 2 (EA)
13. Elden Ring: Nightreign (Bandai Namco)
14. It Takes Two (EA)
15. Grand Theft Auto Online (Rockstar)
16. NBA 2K25 (2K Games)
17. F1 25 (EA)
18. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege (Ubisoft)

That doesn't sound like a flop to me
I'm conflicted with this game. On the one hand, being the best-selling European game after Fifa is good, but on the other hand, it had only reached 5 million players after 4 months, which isn't great for a game of that caliber.

Europe not showing up for Clair 33 is wild.

Even the gameplay was just ok to me. Prefer the combat of GoT. Graphics...yeah, looked really good. Think I've already forgotten most of the story outside "kill these people....for reasons".

Yeah.....I can get that. I continue to be confused by player counts and how to translate them into any sort of concrete conclusion.

Deserved. Despite the issues with Yasuke, and I dont mean his color skin, but if you played the game, youd know his story feels like something they've added much later, it was a good game. It has the best atmosphere of all AC games except AC4, and it'd put it in at 3rd or 4th place in AC ranks.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was Europe's best-selling new game of 2025, beating competition from Split Fiction, Monster Hunter Wilds, Mario Kart World and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

I really hope they dont think we liked the dual protagonists, obscure objective board etc. Pretty Japan sells lots of games
On behalf of Europeans I apologise, but then I remember in every European country some shit COD or FC is at the top spot each month, so whatever.

First act of Shadows is legit great but the whole thing just goes completely off the rails afterwards. It's like they blew their entire narrative / motion capture budget on that first act and then just said "fuck it" we'll do static two shot camera cutscenes from here on out.

Doesn't help that by that point you've experienced everything the game has to offer, yet it expects you to put up another 50 hours.

Visual masterpiece though, incredible graphics and atmosphere.

Since the announcement and gameplay showcase of GoY, this game elevated from mid to masterpiece imo. GoY can't beat neither this, nor GoT.

Didn't most copies come from the bundle which is counted?
it is ?

EDIT: they say « game bundles are included, including physical and digital » and then they say Digital data for Mario Kart World is excluded, it is contradictory.

And they can't really count all Switch 2 Mario Kart bundles as Mario Kart units sold as they cannot be sure people will redeem their code

Yes, because the game bundle is a digital code in some regions and a cart in some others. These are all included. The downloads directly from the e-shop, however, are not counted.

And yet many on GAF said the game was too "WOKE" to sell well. Guess they were all wrong :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:
It's always a surprise when a demented cult opinion doesn't match the opinion of the average person outside the cult.

I'll pick the game up cheap at some point I imagine , hard to want to pay full price for a Ubisoft game..

Wasn't interested in paying for it but I'll check it out if it comes to Game Pass later.
Just want to explore the landscape, not interested in the 'story' or hip hop music

It took too long to be able to play as Yasuke. I moved on to other games shortly after unlocking him. I plan to go back to it. But at this point it'll probably be after ghost of Yotei.
