Comes out in Japan next week! No need to import now if they're planning on translating it.

As for the game's sequel, Atelier Iris ~Eternal Mana~ 2 (which will be released in Japan next week), NIS America informed us that they are "looking into" bringing this title to the United States, and that it is very likely that the game will be released. As for previous Atelier games (of which there are five), we were told that it was "unlikely" that the older games would ever make it to America.

Oh, and

NIS America also disclosed that they are looking into obtaining licenses with Nintendo and Microsoft

It's getting decent reviews, and people who have picked up other NIS titles will probably pick it up, so I imagine it'll do alright. Unless 1 totally tanks here, I'd say the odds are good that we'll get 2.

I can't see the title selling any more than niche status (i.e. under 30,000 copies), but I suppose that would be enough to warrant a sequel considering the Japanese games aren't stellar sellers either.

Well, I have to play the original before I get excited for a sequel. But it's nice to see that the niche titles are still getting considered. <3 Nippon Ichi.

It hasn't yet. It could bomb and NIS could become a distant memory in a year for all we know

While this was taking place in the Kingdom That Hated Fun, back on Earth...

I'm not to sure about the script; Play makes mention that serious moments are sometimes undercut by cheeky dialogue. I loved the humor in Lunar:SSSC, but if if the crew here aimed for that and overshot, it would be to light to stick as a story.
