We have obscured the launch times of these cards intentionally.

ATI High Performance Roadmap

Core Name Slot Width Launch Date
R520 "XT" Crossfire Dual Slot Mid October
R520 "XT" Dual Slot Early October
R520 "XL" Single Slot Early September

ATI Mid and Low Performance Roadmap

Core Name Slot Width Launch Date
RV530 Crossfire Single Slot Late October
RV515 "XL" Single Slot Late September

ATI is fuxxored unless they come with the heat spring 06, If the R520 is badass thats great but their R600 better wtf pwn everything so that their R520 can be in the performance market and the R600 the enthusiast. They just outright missed their product cycle for the 520 they should be talking about making the fall refresh right now not finishing respins of the chip. Nvidia sure as hell isnt standing still. No ones going to pay top dollar for the R520 when they know the R600 is coming in the spring and will eat it alive let alone the nvidia part, its not like ATI can afford to just hold the R520 as its flaghship title with nvidia on pace to release another gfx processor next spring.

ATI needs to get their R520 out before the end of September.

They can't afford a paper launch, either, as those never accomplish anything. ATI's already missed a product cycle for the first time and I don't want a 3DFX repeat.

R600 is not due until late 2006

R520 "XL" Single Slot Early September

Ah, this is good!! I was planning to buy a x800xl this week but I think I'll hold off for 3 more weeks. Prices should drop I reckon :)

Not with a 7800U later this year they won't be. If they don't, then yeah...ownedizzle. PEACE.
The GTX is the new name for the Ultra - I don't think it exists

Since when? When have they launched with the Ultra version of a card first? There's faster memory and a definitely ability to clock the core higher as evidenced by RSX. IMO, a 500-600MHz Ultra card is already waiting in the wings with faster memory to boot. AFAIK, GTX is just a middle-of-the-road part. PEACE.

RSX is a 90nm chip built on a Sony manufacturing process and it has nothing to do with the 110nm TSMC made G70.
Anyway G70 with a dual slot cooling solution could reach 500MHZ without any problem.

I certainly hope you're right, but as more time passes, the more it seems that RSX is a G70 with a higher clock, and maybe turbocache. I'm doubting this less and less each day. I just hope they stripped out the worthless shit and threw in some useful extras. I like ERP's tilebuffer idea a lot. :D PEACE.

No no,my statement was only concerning the frequency.Architecture wise I don't think there will be major differences.
But RSX (90 nm Sony CMOS process) clock speed isn't an indication of the top frequency the G70 ( 110nm TSMC) can reach.

And you are correct. I'm so tired of hearing about this mysterious Geforce 7800 GTX Ultra which doesn't exist.

Good, maybe there will be a really good, decent priced, graphics card I could buy :) If not, maybe the Geforce 6800GT will be cheaper.
