Audi is unveiling a vehicle that marks a superlative new development in the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment. The Audi Q7 ingeniously combines sportiness and versatility, sophisticated technology and the luxury of a premium-class vehicle. On the road it excels with the performance and driving dynamics of a sports car; off-road it redefines the benchmark in its category. A vehicle that outwardly makes no secret of its qualities and whose technology delivers on its promise – on any road and in all conditions. The Audi Q7 – the performance SUV from the creator of quattro.

The Audi Q7 sets new trends through its design alone. Characteristic Audi dynamism is reflected in the broad curve of the roof line and the distinctive high body surface in relation to the flat window area. The dynamic sweep of the front section and the powerful rear end with its sharply sloping D-posts fashion a coupé-like silhouette. Equally typical of the current Audi formal idiom are the shoulder line and dynamic line, which define the side section. The paintwork option of two contrasting body colours creates a particularly striking look. Eleven basic colours are available, three of which are reserved exclusively for the Q7.f used as a 5-seater the Q7 boasts a load capacity of 775 litres – the best in its class!

When the series is launched, Audi Q7 customers will have the choice of two powerful engines: the new 4.2-litre V8 with FSI petrol direct injection develops 257 kW (350 bhp) and achieves a maximum torque of 440 Newton-metres.

The 3.0 TDI six-cylinder engine features a latest-generation common rail injection system that uses piezo inline injectors, thus combining the high performance of 171 kW (233 bhp) and substantial torque of 500 Nm with exceptional refinement and excellent economy.

Power transmission for both engine versions comes from the 6-speed tiptronic.

That looks quite handsome, as a matter of fact. I assume this shares the platform of the Volkswagen Touraeg and Porsche Cayenne?

The direct ignition V6 version should be around $40K according to the autoweek website...

The 350HP 4.2L V8 version should be around 50-55K, which is Mercedes Benz R500 territory...

I really, really like this car....it is much nicer than my wifes BMW X5 and much cheaper than the next-gen Benz S-class she is hounding me for....

I showed her a picture of the Q7 and she could care less....I hope to show it to her again when they arrive next year (the Q7 V8, that is)

Man I hate rich people. :lol

it will have the 40:60 torque split that new audis are getting.. more power to rear wheels

definitely looks the best of the german SUVs imo, and still lots of cool upcoming audi models to be unveiled in the pipeline... A9, new TT, RS6, S8, Q5, may have to do something stupid soon :D

I love that waterfall grille (not so much when there's an n.american license plate covering it though...).
As nice as this truck is, Audi is a bit late to the party. In fact, with rising gas prices, the music has turned off and people are already leaving the party..

I. Don't. Understand. Saloons. On. Stilts.

Seriously. If you want an offroader, buy one. If you want a 5-series or A8, buy one.

NO SUV, CROSSOVER =P

I can't see the allure of those vehicles. They look good, but I can get the same leg space with most sedans and lets be fair, 99.9% of the people don't need to haul fucking elephants every time they hit the supermarket. Heck, I can put groceries for the entire week in an small Astra Coupe.

I'll take some pics when in Frankfurt, tell me what parts of the car interest you most. I wonder if I'll be allowed to do a test drive... I am pretty sure that Honda will let us drive the new Civic.

Nice. I like it even though it's not my kind of car.

Also I think Audi has BMW and MB trumped when it comes to styling...at least for the moment anyway.

I still don't know what the hell is doing VAG with their line-up. Volkswagen, which is supposed to be the brand for the common people, has two full luxury models in direct competition with Audi (Phaeton and Touareg) and a really cheap car (Fox) that should be sold under the Skoda umbrella. At the same time, the sporty brand (SEAT - not sold in the US) is pulling some of the most unimaginative and dull vehicles since their 80s. And don't make me start with the drop in overall quality, there was a time when German engineering was considered the best and the most reliable in the world, now I'd even consider an Alfa Romeo over a VW *shrudders*

It is like if they were taking notes from the worst of GM.

Volkswagen was ORIGINALLY supposed to be the car for the "common" people. It hasn't been a bargain brand for many, many years.

VW is a generalist brand in Europe, it is not my fault if it looks like entry luxury against the average american car =P Plus, I am talking about quality/features, not price. Big figures don't make luxury.

Nice anti-American jab there. Where the fuck did that come from?

The non-biased FACT of the matter is that VW has been skewing its line upscale in ALL markets for many years. They don't sell their smallest cars in the United States, but that doesn't change the FACT that the line has becoming more upscale and less bargain bin, even before Touareg and Phaeton were introduced. I posted because you seemed surprised that VW had upscale cars at all, when in non-biased, objective FACT they have been moving their line upscale for many years now -- in terms of features AND price.

I'm not talking about quality (by which I think you mean reliability) -- VWs are notoriously unreliable.

Meh - you can keep it. Never mind those new nasty grilles and ridiculous looking D-pillars. Glorified station wagons indeed.

Aw man, I was fucking around since most of my American friends identify VW as entry luxury because of the design/fitting (and I pretty much laugh at them because of this) It was not intended as a jab, sorry. Actually I am quite excited about the next European Dodge/Cadillac offerings.

Actually VW went crazy with their US prices because of the €/$ change rates and the entry luxury perception that many people in the US has regarding the brand. You know, if people think that they are buying a superior product the suits will charge more for it, it is not a secret.
