Audioslave with 30 Seconds to Mars

I turn on my computer this morning, check my email, and find that I've got one from 99.3 The Fox (local rock radio station which I won 2 tickets to Audioslave from). Turns out that Audioslave w/ Seether has just been changed to Audioslave w/ Seether and 30 Seconds to Mars.

Seether I don't mind, they're alright. Audioslave is my 3rd favorite band ever (behind Foo Fighters and Rage Against the Machine), but I just got introduced to 30 Seconds to Mars about 5 months ago thanks to AlphaSnake, and jesus fuck, I would've paid to go see them alone. Where the fuck did this come from?

Tomorrow evening, 30 Seconds to Mars (and Seether) opening for AudioSlave.

I guess this is a thread about Audioslave or 30 Seconds to Mars or what concerts you've been to recently or something. I don't even know.

So god damn stoked.

Nice lineup. 30 Seconds to Mars is a great band, definitely would pay to see them alone.

EDIT: Just checked to see if this show was coming to Buffalo, and it is. Minus audioslave. 30 Seconds to Mars and Seether for $16, I'll be seeing that.

Emotions overwhelm me. Two of my favorite bands...performing...at the same...

*sniffles*

oh thank you God!!! *breaks down*

hoyl fucking god

i'm very dizzy, my neck is fucking JILLING me (I' apologize, but when certain riffs come on you HAVE to fuckign heandbng), my right knee if literally BLOODY from hitting the chair in front of me when I was going nuts (i had the aisl seat so my leftg knee was fine) and I cannot fucking speak. but that was fucking AWWEOMS

Seether player a perfect cover of Nirvana's Drain Me (which is my favorite Nirvana song)

30 seconds was great

but jesus audioslave

all of their big songs- all of them
1 song that they'd (allegedly) never played before to anyone- including music execs (the song fucjking rocked too)
Soundgarden - Rusty Cage
Soundgarden - Spoon Man (complete with spoon man!)
Rage Against the Machine - i cna't even rememebr but one song without vocals
Rage against he machine - Sleep Now in the Fire (Cornell on vocals)
then they were done

then for the encore Conrell came back with a guitar and played fucking Black Hole Sun acoustic (MIND EXPLODES)
then he played two other acoustic Soundgarden songs

then the band came back on and played fucking SHow Me How To Live (I was pissed as that's my favoruite audioslave song and thought they'd left it off)

and then they fucking wrapped it up with fucking

Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name (cornell on vocals)

ho-lee shit

work is going to SUCK tomorrow

Dude, I'm going to this show at MSG on Oct 29th. It better be as fucking awesome as your concert. I'm so hyped up for it.

I've seen 30 Seconds to Mars before, they opened for Chevelle at a concert I went to in NYC. I had never heard of them, and they were pretty good.

Don't know Seether though.

Audioslave, I also like their studio stuff but they totally rock when performing live. One of my personal highlights of Hurricane festival this summer. everyone went absolutely fucking crazy when they played Killing In The Name Of. I didn't even know they would play Soundgarden and RATM songs...

(reads MikeWorks stuff)

Holy shit I can't wait when I see them next monday! I hope I get the same stuff. Now to quickly forget what you just said so I can be suprised. (slams head on desk)

Holy shit what a fucking experience that was. I'm a lot more sober now and a lot more sore too (I doubt I'll be able to work out now until at least next week). Voice is about the same, I still sound like I've been smoking for half a century. But Christ is all that worth it.

You guys have any questions about the show, feel free to ask. Such an awesome experience (especially considering this is the 3rd concert I've ever been to in my entire life).

So god damn awesome.

Was a big venue? How close were you to the stage? And it was a seated concert...but everyone was standing most of the time?

My seats at MSG fucking blow, but it'll still be pretty awesome.

It was at GM Place, which is pretty much the best venue in Vancouver (our NHL team and what used to be our NBA team play in GM Place, whereas our football team plays at BC Place). It seats 18,500+.

I think there were about 8,000 - 9,000 people at the Audioslave concert.

I was in the lower bowl, seated next to the aisle in the 14th row. I was directly to the side of the stage, yet high up enough that I could see everyone on the stage over the speakers (and everything backstage too). Everyone on the floor was standing, and pretty much everyone in the seats were standing too- save for some of the slower songs like Dandelion and Like a Stone.

And yes, it will still be pretty awesome.

I'm wathcing them tommorow night.. I really wanna get some weed for it but I have school now :(

Can't wait till I get to see them. This will be my first concert so it sounds like I'm going to be spoiled for any other concert from now on.

Back from the show in Winnipeg and it was pretty amazing, the right balance of Audioslave, Soundgarden and RATM tracks made is a fantastic show. The place was packed too which always adds to the experience. woo!!!!!!

Fantastic show, just got back myself. Pretty damn drunk so impressions later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drain You Mike Works, not Drain Me :) Anyway, I'm going to the Portland, ME show november 4th and I'm hyped up for it already. So far I've heard nothing but good things about this tour, for all three bands.

Was there a mosh pit? I honestly can't envision just being in stadium type seating for that type of a show. And was that all the RATM that they played? What was the audience makeup like? A metal type crowd or more mainstream? How long did Audioslave play?

Good to hear it was awesome though. You were so hyped for it, I was almost expecting it to be a disappointment to you simply because of how excited you were for it.

Yeah, im a pretty big fan of 30 stm :) It really sucks im missing out on all of concerts of the new cd (im stationed in Korea)

I got back from their last Canadian stop, London Ontario show. Yeah 30 seconds to mars was good, the lead singer ran through the crowd and everything, and when he asked if everyone was having a good time, no response. He was like "Yeah I know we're the opening act but come on!" and got the crowd going for a couple of minutes after that. They were cool, I liked their stuff.

Seether came out and they were cool but other than play music they didn't do anything much else, no showmanship. You couldn't never see the lead singers face cause he never bothered to brush the hair out of his face, but they played Broken on the accoustic which was a suprise (it'd been just rock till then) and ended it with Drain You, which as Mike said, was perfect. His vocals was too close to Cobain's, it was scary. They also played Pantera's Walk for like a minute in the middle of one of their songs that i didn't know. I was like sweet, but got pissed they didn't get to the chorus. Still awesome though.

Then Audioslave came out, which rocked the fucking house. Perfect choices of music to play. I don't think they played What You Are (my sister says they did but I could swear I would've remembered that), but they played everything else they released. They also played Set It Off, Gasoline, The Worm and one other from the second album that sounded cool live. They also did the "I just wrote this yesterday!" schtick and played the song which I wasn't huge for. But my sister bought it so I guess it worked for anyone who didn't know he said this pretty much at every stop. Ended the "main" show with Shadow of the Sun.

For Soundgarden's, they played Spoonman (no spoonman though) and Outshined, which was a good choice but I would've killed for Rusty Cage. For Rage they played half of Bulls on Parade with no vocals, then Cornell came back to sing that "Testify" song which sounded fucking perfect. I was so happy with the way it went.

Then for the encore Cornell came out with his accoustic, which under the bright lights was reflecting into our eyes, blinding me from time to time. But he played Black Hole Sun and two songs which I don't think were Soundgarden songs but songs off his solo album. I'm not sure, but I own 5 out of "6" (really 7 but anyways) Soundgarden albums and I didn't recognize them. Still awesome. Then he played I am the Highway half accoustic, then the guys came back and finished it together. Then Show Me How To Live, then the show paused while he talked to us, just to distract us before they started Killing In The Name Of which got the mosh pit going insane. They finished with Cochise. All and all an awesome AWESOME SHOW.

The only minus is that the first song (Your time has come) sounded wrong because you couldn't hear Cornells voice at all, I guess they had to adjust the speakers or something. After that it was good.
