Well, it's a 750mL bottle with a standard markup of, what, 30%?

375mL can be found for $14ish, so double that, add a bit and you're getting there. It's definitely not difficult to get. Came pretty close to dropping $60 on what was probably the last bottle of something a while back (to share), but even then, at $15 each for half a glass it was a bit much.

If wine can be expensive, why not beer? Some of the ones in their 'sours' section are worth the money, given that the beers take 2-3 years to produce. But then, if I want a fancy bottled beer, I'll buy it from a bottle shop for much less. Once they hit $18-20 I have difficulty convincing myself to buy them, except on rare occasions.

Yup, earlier suits me so that's cool. Will just leave work a bit early.

Beer DeLuxe is acceptable, though I much prefer Penny Blue nowadays. But food is cheaper at Beer DeLuxe and the place is easier to get to and suits larger groups, so, whatever.

Was that the place we went to once? I did enjoy that place if so, nice little spot, very cosy.

I splurged on a case of stone and wood pacific ale the other day, $73 well spent. Most I have paid for a case in years, if ever come to think of it.

Also anyone who likes beer and great food; and hasn't been to archive in west end is a bad person.

Will be getting NBN piped to our house within 6 weeks.

PARTY HARD

I hate you so much.

Craziness happened today. A guy jumped off the roof of JPMorgan's HK headquarters (a 30 storey office tower) here in the financial district. Apparently an employee, early 30s. It's crazy cos it's such a super busy place, and our office is like a minute away.

Such a tragedy. Week ruined.

but ever so delicious
Cheers. Works now. Also, is there an easier way to switch dictionaries besides finding a text box and right clicking?

options > content > languages

Seems like you can set an order.

I added AU without actually having AU though. So it doesn't seem to be that well thought out.

LOL, cheers :)

Fake edit: Actually, that just looks like the language served by the webpage, not the spellchecker language. Could be wrong, the options are a bit obtuse with the languages.

Seems I am far from the only person who is interested in the King in Yellow references found in True Detective. More knowledgeable people than I are seeing a number of them cropping up throughout the show. Turns out the writer is a fan of Chambers, Lovecraft, Ligotti and others.

I haven't yet gotten around to reading The King in Yellow (might have to put some effort towards rectifying that situation.), but am aware of aspects of it due to appearances made by it in Lovecraftian roleplaying games like Call of Cthulhu. As a matter of fact, the Yellow Sign (also the title of one story found in The King in Yellow) was interpreted and drawn by Kevin Ross for Chaosium.

On the writer, I'll note something that's really quite funny once you know.
The bartender Marty questioned was played by the writer, who was asked "Why do you make me say this shit?"

Impressive for a small studio to go from PSP games

to this (and that's only b-roll footage for media outlets to chop up, the real trailer comes tomorrow!)

No reason. I find both ideas silly to myself but understand why others wouldn't.

Once they hit $18-20 I have difficulty convincing myself to buy them, except on rare occasions.
Yeah even $10 is pushing it, happy to pay $1 a beer!

What time are you heading back? I'm dropping off a friend at the airport so probably won't be able to get into the city before 4pm.

I'll grab a late train back to Geelong so it depends on how things go, latest train I would take would be 10pm or so I guess.

EDIT: Oh yeah, that io9 article was great Danoss. Most of it had already been laid out in the OT though.

My favourite recent realisation is that Cohle's
testimony is inadmissible since he is drinking alcohol, when the modern day detecs told Marty that Cohle was drinking he remarked something along the lines of "you aren't playing him, he's the one playing you" :)

I don't stray outside this thread very often, I'm convinced that is a wise decision.

I think the line you might be looking for is
"you weren't getting a read on him, he was getting a read on you". Cohle was fishing for what they had since he's still working the case and so is Marty. Cohle doesn't want his storage looked at because that is likely where his things on the case are and he's sure police officers are involved.

The alcohol covering anything he says is also spot on as the writer has said. It appears they're trying to frame him, he doesn't want to give them anything more than what little they have.

I work right across the road from it and I've only been once :/ They had comics on the walls which I liked.

Hopefully after the damn book is finished I'll have time to do things like have a beer and socialise and not make books.

Chrome > Firefox LOL.

Followed. You can guess who I am.

Yeah Archive is nice. Food is decent. When I go in there I usually just ask the staff what is good and that usually doesn't fail me.

Archive is far too busy a lot of the time. The acoustics inside make it noisy as fuck, so I'm not a fan of Archive on weekends.

I just discovered the Bavarian Bier Cafe does $7.9 pints of all beers from 4-6pm everyday. I think I'll be hitting that up.

Edit: Even though he's claimed responsibility, I doubt Ken would just axe the studio causing 200+ people to lost their jobs. There has to be more to it than that. I do think this might be a positive direction for Ken, but as a studio closure it's pretty harsh.

I like the TD OT. Lots of fun ideas floating around.

Your spoiler is broken rep, fix it before people start hating on you.
Thanks fixed, not a huge spoiler thankfully!

Don't be dramatic, it sounds like Ken Levine wanted to try a smaller team and something new.
The 100+ people who are now unemployed is pretty dramatic tbh

Indeed they do, brings it down to a reasonable price.

New Indie humble bundle is pretty awesome!

Guacamelee! Gold Edition
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
The Swapper

4 Games - $1 each!

Pay more than $4.22 to unlock:

Antichamber
Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine

Worth it alone just for guacamelee.

Wow... that's a hell of a bundle! I paid $15 for Guacamelle on PSN not too long ago, but I'm good with double dipping. I'm interested in Gianna, Dust, The Swapper and Anti Chamber and don't own any of them yet!

Publishers and developers cut people because they're going to be sitting around for way too long or they're losing money and need to trim costs to keep afloat, etc that sucks and is way too common.

Ken saying, "I'm done, you're all fired apart from 15 of you. Here's a pool cue" is sucky.

Put it this way. What if Gaben decided he'd had enough of looking up your browser history and retired, shuttering Valve in the process.

Of course Ken can quit and start anther company. Its this narrative that its his choice to cut all of these jobs that is so objectionable.

It sucks, but by now, isn't it just the nature of the industry?

To close down a critically claimed, high selling studio that housed hundreds of employees (including multiple veterans) is what I would call dramatic.

It isn't the nature of the industry to go from a AAA developer to a small indie sized developer while still under the direction of a publisher.

This would be the highest profile closure for a long time considering their success.

2K does not operate like the rest of the industry.

2K allows an incredibly amount of creative and economical freedom that is unheard of in 3rd party publishers. They constantly retool and push back titles rather than cut and kill them.

This is 2K's Heaven's Gate. 2K cannot continue to work in this manner
