Australian Nintendo DS launch details!

I'm waiting for Nintendo to screw me over. I'm European, so I know it will happen. I'm guessing €200 with games costing at least €50 a piece.

Does this mean that it will come in europe on the 24th february too? why don't the stupid bastards at NOE give the release date and price? Yesterday I saw the PSP and DS of a friend who imported them, and while the PSP impressed me deeply with its incredible screen, the DS tho nice with the touchscreen seemed a cheap toy compared to the PSP.

So Nintendo better release the DS soon and really cheap or I doubt many people will buy it here.

No way it's gonna be €200 now. Not when the AUS price is so low. I'm calling €130 or lower! We'll know come the 27th!
200.00 AUD = 116.233 EUR

it'll probably be about 150 EUR

Final details confirmed here: AU DS details*
They'll see the black unit at launch too:

The Australian launch will also see two colours available from day one, with black and silver units on offer. Super Mario 64 DS and WarioWare: Touched! will be available at launch in Australia with Pokemon Dash releasing shortly after. A full list of launch games is expected next week.
*Not plugging. Just final details from release
:)

I am so hitting up some pawn shops next week so I can build up my GBA library for next to nothing!

I really didn’t plan on buying a DS so it’s kind of screwing up my “planed” gaming budget for a next few months!

Ah, now give me a european releasedate....
I'm going to an event in Paris on 27th of this month. Full European details will be anounced then. :)

The Big question is

Will those Australian retailers who have dropped Nintendo start stock there products again?

I hope so!

And yeah I am going to get a black DS!

PARTY TIME!

Im certainly far more interested in the software price than the hardware price. If its the same situation now with £30 games that hardly ever come down in price unless they are shovelware then I may not bother with a DS for now, Advance Wars, Pokemon and Zelda can keep me playing my SP a year or so more.

Two colours, really? Sure it's not some mistranslation and they meant the actual unit is both silver and black? That's happened before.

Yeah they really need to lower GBA and DS prices to $50 AUD maximum, it's pretty ridiculous.

Yeah I think the unit is “silver and black” after reading it on the Nintendo website but spong is never wrong!

Pricing of the games? Well $60 new isn’t that bad BUT! Only with a good budget range and price drop many GBA games are still full price but might be over 2 years old.

Hmm. The release I got reads:
More than 100 companies have signed on to create games for the sleek silver and black Nintendo DS, while Nintendo itself are already developing its first 20 titles including Super Mario 64* DS and WarioWare*: Touched! which will be available on launch in Australia with Pokemon Dash* releasing shortly after.
You couldn't really call the current model silver and black really... Coud you?

If Mario 64 DS wasn't on this I don't think I'd be getting one. But it's probably one of my favourite games of all time so I MUST OWN IT!! Plus some bastard broke into my house and stole my GBASP, which I never replaced, so it'll be good for GBA games too I guess.

Firstly, love that avatar Jacobi.

Second, congrats aussies. You didn't get screwed this time around. Maybe you could pay Nintendo back by buying their products ;)

To bump an old topic, Toys 'R' Us have a few Nintendo Deals going at the moment.

NINTENDO DS STARTER PACK

Pre-Order - $50 deposit.

- Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters Demo
- DS Travel Pack
- Plus ONE of the following games:
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour
- Super Mario 64 DS
- Warioware Touched!
- Plus 5 x $5 Nintendo DS Software Coupons

$249.99

Nintendo DS Value Pack

- Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters Demo
- DS Travel Pack
- Plus TWO of the following games:
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour
- Super Mario 64 DS
- Warioware Touched!
- Plus 5 x $5 Nintendo DS Software Coupons

$299.99

Now, this is the last one, which from the looks of it is wrong, since it costs more than buying two Starter Packs

Nintendo DS Double Pack

- 2 x Nintendo DS with Metroid Prime: Hunters Demo
- 2 x DS Travel Pack
- Plus TWO of the following games:
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour
- Super Mario 64 DS
- Warioware Touched!
- Plus 10 x $5 Nintendo DS Software Coupons

$509.99

That price is silly. I called up my local Toys 'R' Us and asked them about it, and they had only just realised as well. They've e-mailed the head office, and they should get back to me on Monday. One theroy the employee gave me that it might be Two copies of EACH game. That'd be TOO good of a deal if you ask me. I'm betting it's meant to be $499.99.

Wow, those are some pretty good deals, I might have to cancel my pre-order at EB. I mean, why buy a DS + Mario for $270 when I can get Wario plus a travel pack for $30 more?

Good deal, thanks for that! Will Toys R Us have these on day 1 though?

Sweet, i'm going on holidays on the 25th, which is perfect timing so I can take my DS with me! One small problem is there aren't many Toys R Us near me, do you think EB would price match such a deal?

I went in there and spoke to them about it today - I have a friend getting one too, so we're going halves in that deal - the guy went and got the manager, and we're guaranteed the deal that is too good to be true - we each get a ds, two games, the 'starter pack' shit and all the coupons for $255 each. Go find a friend and order that one before they realise they're giving you a free game!

Ya you can. The top is silver, the bottom is black. This is the same thing that went on for the US launch. People were thinking it was 2 different systems, but its not. Its one system that is 2 colors, silver and black.

Dam I want to buy two arcade sticks for my Xbox plus I just brought SF:AC, Metal Slug 3, Outrun 2 and KOTOR2. I would love to buy a new Nintendo system but the more I think about the more I realize I never use my GBA. Looks like I will be sticking to consoles only.

My back flip is Complete.

Holy shit!

I gotta try this.. so.. talk to them about the double pack, and point out that it costs more than two standard packs, and they'll say "whoops!" and throw in the 2 extra games? Sounds pretty easy, i'll go halves with a friend, he's going to check it out tomorrow, i'll report back with what happens.

ouch, $300? no thanks. i am starting to crack though.

Well.. that guy got lucky.. unfortunely the Toys 'R' Us my friend tried didn't give it to us, they said there's no way they'd give away two games each with that deal. I guess we could try other Toys 'R' Us stores, but meh, oh well :P

I've decided to go through EB using this voucher for our two DS's @ $190 each.

www.nintendo.com.au/misc/ebgames_voucher.pdf

And games we are importing from overseas at around $50 a pop from www.dvdboxoffice.com and tronixweb.com.

I think this ends up being cheaper than those ToysRUs deals.

Did you guys hear that we are getting Metroid Prime: Hunters (the full version of the game) at launch as well?? How cool is that? I'm not going to get it at first to see if I like the demo but damn, for once we get something before people in NTSC-land do! :D

It's a demo...

Saki, The EB price list for the launch of the DS and games/accessories has an item called 'Metroid Prime: Hunters", at $69.95.

I'm not talking about First Hunt that comes bundled with the launch package.

Just rang Toys R Us today.
They realised it was a pricing mistake.
Twin DS Pak is now $494 and comes with 2 games total (one per person)

So it's pretty much the same as two standard packs? Lame :P

Only 9 days to go now! Have you guys seen the commercials on tv? I've seen a few, they're like the US teaser ones where the girl tells you to touch the screen, except the voice has been replaced with an aussie lady, i'm surprised that Nintendo Australia actually scraped some funds together to advertise, they've probably used up their entire budget for the year now though.
