Backrooms | Official Teaser by A24

I'm looking forward to this. I really loved the first Backrooms video and I hope they nail the atmosphere. I also hope they avoid cringe characters. They should go the route of The Thing where we just have people trying to get out alive. I don't need to know about their love life or childhood traumas.

I'll also take the opportunity to recommend the surreal movie The Incident (2014) which has people stuck in areas.

I just saw the trailer for Backrooms and it looks interesting

I did dabble a little into that fandom but I felt that some of the added stuff got a bit too bloated for my tastes

I'm curious to see how this translates into a full-length story rather than just a creepypasta concept. The two trailers so far have done a better job than I expected at getting me interested.

Hesitantly optimistic. Good actor, but I feel like The Backroom shouldn't be something you can walk in and out from. You should be trapped there in the nightmarish environment not knowing whether or not you'll be trapped until you die. It also doesn't quite nail the oppressive atmosphere of a place that repeats itself and has no semblance of life.

The trailer actually looks sick. I'm pretty optimistic about this!

My kid loves this game/genre/concept whatever you call it but NFW is he brave enough for that movie :P Guess we will be watching when it hits streaming, in the middle of broad daylight :P

And I like that filmmakes have seemingly forgotten the american love of guns, 'cause I GUARANTEE no one is "Exploring an endless warren of rooms" without packing :P

Pretty much this and Undertone have my interest this year. Can't wait for the UHD—which will sit on my shelf because I never have time to watch them.

A bit long, but I really liked The Oldest View part 3. The fourth is also a good ending to it. Gets proper creepy after half an hour.

Can't wait for the Backrooms. I really hope it holds up and works as a full movie. There'll always be a difference when making something for the youtube audience and something that must be commercially viable.

I hope this turns out good.

Given that it's A24, what trauma is the horror going to be a metaphor for? Generational ennui of feeling lost in the age of technological and AI advancements?

I like Backrooms but there is the possibility that movie ends up being bad
Always a possibility. I haven't watched much of the YouTube series, but it seemed like it didn't have much in the way of deep or even distinct characters? So I'm curious how the director will do with that aspect of it in a feature film.

Also, for some reason I thought the runtime for this movie was ~2.5 hours, but apparently it's only 1h45m, which is another point in its favor, imo. It takes a very rare breed of horror movie to work well at 2+ hours.
