I think it's cool that these two Baldwin brothers disagree.

Alec Baldwin, left, and his brother Stephen.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Politics run deep in the Baldwin family, and right now brothers Alec and Stephen are finding themselves on opposite sides of a fiercely partisan presidential election campaign.

Alec Baldwin, 46, has long been a Democratic Party supporter. Younger brother Stephen is new to the political scene.

The 38-year-old actor, a born-again Christian, says his support for the Republican Party is less about politics and more about religion.

"My desire to be at the RNC was this goal that I have to support the candidate that I believe has the most faith," Stephen told "Access Hollywood" in an interview Tuesday. "Systematically, God is being erased and removed from our culture, our society, our government."

He added, "I think it's kind of freaky, man."

Alec, who was at the Democratic convention in Boston in July, told the syndicated entertainment TV show that he has concerns about Stephen being in a political spotlight.

"Stephen's been fairly apolitical for a long, long time. Then he embraced a born-again Christian faith, which is very near and dear to him and very real for him. As a result of that, of course, certain operatives of the Republican Party came to him and said, 'Why don't you come on over and join our unit of spokespeople who are show business?"'

Alec, who starred in the 2003 film "The Cooler," said he told Stephen: "When they are done with you, they are going to throw you in the wastebasket" and cautioned him about carefully choosing his words "when ... they stick a microphone in your face."

Will Stephen listen? Alec doesn't expect it.

"Of course, he's going to ignore my advice as he's done throughout his life," the elder Baldwin brother said.

hahahaha. I saw Stephen on some TBN thing preaching to a bunch of kids. He was promoting some Christian skateboarding film he put together.

Man, from Bio-Dome to that...

Yeah, I think it's cool that they disagree.

My brother is the same way.

We still love each other though.

Could someone please just kill Stephen Baldwin? Or, at least get him a sizeable drug habit?

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Well...he was still cool in The Usual Suspects...right?

My thoughts are all over the place on reading this...seeing the picture...

*scratches head*

Where....to....begin..

1. Alec Baldwin appears to be taking a drag queen pose

2. As for Stephen: You're 38. You look like a middle school rollerblader. You still say shit like, "I think it's kind of freaky, man." You adopt Christianity, likely after your subsequent post-Usual Suspects career collapse, and then on top of that decide to mix your religion with politics. You are mere percentage points less weird than Michael Jackson. Think about that for a moment.

3. For those who've seen Dennis Miller's "The Raw Feed".."Alec Baldwinia" anyone? I mean I don't have a problem with him being a Dem, but he's routinely put his foot in his mouth when it comes to politics.

4. I feel bad for all parties involved here. Lets hope some X-tians clue Stephen in on the fact that he's not qualified to judge "who has the most faith"..

Actually, I will give him credit here. His delivery of the line "Fucko? <shiver>" was brilliant.

Alec's advice is "Don't think for yourself, Stephen. Allow me to make up your mind for you."

Following a party just because you follow a religion, is thinking for yourself?
