Batman Begins is Underappreciated

I'm a bit disappointed by some of the low scores this game has been receiving. It's a really entertaining game. Sure, it may be Splinter Cell-light but I'm sure it's the type of game that could appeal to the type of gamers who maybe don't like Splinter Cell. It's got an excellent amount of variety and it even has plenty of platforming elements to keep gamers like myself entertained. The further I get into the game, the more and more I like it.

I played a game like Batman Begins before.

Extremely easy. Designed for uber-casuals. Nice graphics, shallow gameplay. Press one button and a fancy "finish him" move comes up.

Yeah, I played a game like that before.... :lol :lol

I've been meaning to check it out. I really like Eurocom's stuff. Sphinx was good and so was Hydro Thunder. Splinter Cell has worn itself out though. I like all three of them, but it's just too much of the same too fast. I'm sure a new face (Batman) would help. It's kind of messed up, but you could almost blame Ubisoft for me not buying this EA game...yet.

I rented it over the week and enjoyed it quite abit. I wish they would of expanded on the "Fear" element though other than just causing accidents to "scare" enemies so they instantly drop all their firearms and made the light/shadows a factor in that area of gameplay. The Batmobile portions are surprisingly well done and thankfully you can replay as them as much you like once you've completed that particular level.

Still, if you're not a fan of the movie or Batman in general then it's just about worth a rental if anything.

I'm seriously thinking about picking this up.
Yeah, me too/ I think it's on sale at Comp USA for $30. I'm really tempted. The thing is, I beat RE4 about 2 months ago and just beat God Of War about a week or two ago. I have Devil May Cry, Gradius V, Psychonauts and Conker to play now, but I can't decide what to pick. I'm leaning toward DMC or CBFD.

Go with DMC first; better chance of positive skill transfer, even though the combat engines are completely different.

Yeah, those two games just spoiled me though. I know DMC is a great game as well. I got about half way through it, but for some reason I quite playing it quite a while ago. I'm thinking I should hold off on the really great games like DMC because Zelda is about to come out, so I figured Batman was a good game to kind of wean me before it's released.

You believe? Have you played Batman Begins? I've played most Batman games since the 16 bit era and this is definitely my favorite.

Yeah...y'know I'd buy the game if it wasn't published by EA. But since it is...I'm not gonna BUY it. Y'know? I'll give it a rental for sure. Blockbuster will get some of my money. EA already got theirs from BB. I'm not going to give them any more.

The way combat is handled in the game is awful, Its loose, floaty and uninteresting.

A perfect example of a "Hollywood EA" game, All gloss and no substance.

Well actually Batman Begins is directed by the same writers as Splinter Cell from what I've heared from a friend of mine who works as a level artist at Eurocom. EA had nothing to do with this except that they're publishing it and may have asked for some subtle changes.
