Batman makes really poor choices

TwoDurans

"Never said I wasn't a hypocrite."
So in batman forever our titular hero jumps off a roof to chase down Two-Face. He falls for what looks to be 30 stories, aiming for a manhole that Two-Face was escaping into, going as far as to cross his arms so that he doesn't hurt one of them when aiming for the sewer hole. Our hero ends up being captured in a tube and net, which save him by softening his landing, but Batman didn't know that before he leapt from the top of a massive building.

Makes for a really cool shot, but very reckless on Batman's part.

Bruce Wayne is a billionaire that could pretty much pay mercenaries to take out the villains without killing them and pretty much solve the majority of gothams villain problems in one month.

If these mercenaries are that capable, what's stopping them from taking that big payment to take out all the criminals and then just take their place?

Good directors can and do make bad movies, but bad directors rarely make good ones.

This is especially true within the studio system, where creative control is far from absolute.

Plus, from what I understand, he didn't even want to make the movies this way. From what I heard, he wanted to keep it in Burton's style, and Two-Face would be the only villain and no Robin. Then Warner Bros. executives saw how Returns didn't do as well in comparison to the first one and wanted a more kid-friendly film. Given that he couldn't even make the film he wanted to, it's no surprise he didn't put much effort in it.

Apparently the audio commentary for Batman and Robin is basically a 2 hour apology by him even though he wasn't really to blame it seems. Hell, George Clooney has even offered refunds to people who tell him they watched it even though again he's not really to blame for what happened. Regardless, a ton of the people involved in those two films have done good to excellent stuff before and since so they should definitely not be defined by those two films.

Well because Bruce Wayne would plan for that possibility and not give them the chance for it.

Some of the decisions that he makes with the Joker are extremely questionable.

lol watch the intro to the movie. Batman makes another bad choice. Alfred offers him a sandwich and Batman says "I'll get drive through"

like think of the calories, Bruce! think of the trans fats!

Plus the batmobile doesn't have windows. He would have to open the canopy to get his food.

I am sure that joke was inserted for product placement purposes. By the time the film came out, McDonalds had milked that scene to the wall.

Just a random scene that popped in my head b/c of this thread is in the 1989 movie with Michael Keaton, he's going to use his grapple device to get himself and Vicky Vale to safety. He asks her how much she weighs. It's funny because it's not a question women are comfortable with, but the movie is presenting the reality that his gadget has an actual physical limitation. It's not some cartoon.

She of course lies, and it can't pull them both up because it's over its maximum weight limit, so he has to let go and fall to the ground to let it pull her up alone.

You think him pulling stunts is bad? Picture this. You have a new young apprentice. He's athletic, brave, and helps out in a pinch. You both often stop criminal activities in the dead of night, against dangerous thugs that are heavily armed and double his size. This involves sneaking into buildings, and often times being inconspicuous to avoid suspicion. As a valuable member of the team, you give him a disguise. You give him this

Also weird is the decision to make the entire head and neck portion of the costume out of a single piece of thick material severely limiting your range of head motion, but he seems to do alright.

I question his decision of wearing eye black to cover his eyes, why not wear something more colorful to highlight them rather than hid them.
