The other side is: Michael Jackson was an absolute tidal wave, but it was really the dance that carried him


He was absolutely masterful at pop dance (pinoneering the moonwalk), yet the singing was damn good too and the overly high pitched male voices in pop music like Bruno Mars and The Weekend is pretty much thanks to him entirely. In terms of influence he is probably the one.…pun intended.

Bowie is the best singer on that list, but not based on his 80s output. Freddy Mercury was also better in the 70s.
