Eureka 7 or Honey & Clover, but for me, I've been most involved with Monster, having finally started watching it in the past few weeks.

New for '05:

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan - Sweet, sweet Club To Death Angel, oh how we love you.

Eureka Seven - I stalled out a couple of episodes in, but my roommate swears that this has gotten rather good, so I'm hoping to catch up before long.

Eye Shield 21 - This is completely standard by-the-books shounen sports anime, with two exceptions. First, it's about American Football, which is amusingly surreal, and second, this may be formula but it does damn fine job of it. Tremendous fun.

Glass no Kamen 2005 - I'm not sure this shoujo classic strictly needed a remake, but at least it's a good remake. Acting shoujo melodrama apocolypse!

Hachimitsu to Clover - Fun romantic comedy that reminds me of Here is Greenwood with more angst and female characters. The only problem with this series is that there is no way in hell the female lead is 18.

No fucking way.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Movie 1: Hoshi wo Tsugu Mono - The first of three movie adaptations of the original Zeta Gundam TV series, combining old footage with new animation. The end result is pretty badass; in particular, the newly animated finale is freakin' awesome. If you've never seen Zeta Gundam, the movies look to be the way to go.

Victorian Romance Emma - So far, this is my favorite new anime release of 2005. Wonderful period detail, plenty of romance, and an enthralling plot. The show starts off a bit slow, but when things go into high gear, woo boy.

For ongoing series from 2004, it's all about Monster, Yakitate!! Japan, and Gundam Seed Destiny.

I know it's Gundam... but it's also SEED destiny.

Eye tearingly bad writing is the order of the day, interspersed with a few decent gundam moments.

Of course, opinions vary. For what it's worth, if you weren't quite sold on the original Gundam Seed, Destiny is a distinct improvement.

It started off convoluted, and it's getting better, but I'd hope so after 40 of 50 episodes.

Who am I kidding, no matter how much I complain, I'm buying this come January when Bandai starts releasing the DVDs.

I loves me that (non G and Wing) Gundam!!

I've been wanting to see Emma :/ Any idea where I can find it?

Samurai 7 ended on Dec 25th, 2004.

If we're going to count anime which started airing in 2004 but ended in 2005, Samurai Champloo gets my vote.

What Jiji said. If you can't find a torrent, you aren't trying. Manga scanslations are also available, with the story proceeding well beyond the anime.

aquarion?? why's it so? the show was trite from the first couple of episodes and the innuendo and incestuousness was bleh

A) It doesn't take itself seriously B) It pokes fun at giant robot series albeit in a really interesting manner (orgasmic transformation sequences, huzzah!) C) Fun action, some great characters, a somewhat interesting storyline, and surprisingly cool mecha although the CG kinda strips a little of the coolness factor out of the designs. I don't recall any real incestous overtones though but I have a tendency to gloss over dialogue at times though.

For me Full Metal Panic: TSR and Yakitate Japan (or was it released in 2004?)

however the best anime I've seen this year is Azumanga Daioh, since I watch that every year :lol

edit: the new hellsing ova could be great too, and weren't there rumors of a cowboy bebop ova in october?
also, I'd kill for Yotsuba To and 20th Century boys animes

1) Eureka Seven

2) Honey and Clover

3) Kamichu

There is little else that's worth a damn at all from '05, but some other possibilities might be Tide-line Blue (which seems a little generic but not bad), Speed Grapher (which is violent but goofy), and The Snow Queen (which, last I checked, only has 1 subbed episode).

Everything else is either a sequel, a harem, or just grade A crap.

Futakoi Alternative
Honey & Clover
Basilisk
Tsubasa Chronicle simple plot, horrible pacing but great music..?
He is my Master similar slapstick comedy as dokurochan

From Spring:
Eureka Seven - Booooooooones!!!!! etc...
Sousei no Aquarion - what Shouta said, and ep 13 = omfg great.
Honey & Clover - I keep neglecting to catch up with this show, really behind, but it's hard not to like this show from the get go.

From Summer:
FMP: The Second Raid - Just awesome, nothing else needs to be said.
GunXSword - Kinda let down honestly, but it's Goro and we're only a few eps in out of 26...

Ongoing:
Gundam Seed Destiny. Ok don't know about great, but it's the only ongoing show I watch, plus i'm a whore for pretty much anything Gundam, so it wins by default :lol

The Gonzo trifecta of shows is fucking awful, well 2/3rds of it. But I dropped Speed Grapher, will probably wait for the DVDs for the directors cut.

Special prize for show I can't believe no one is subbing and it's already up to 70 eps ;_;
Keroro Gunsou

Just watched ep12 of aquarion, the antique store scene.. pft.. :lol
btw i just saw that xxx holic/tsubasa reserve chronicle trailer.. is that a movie or what?

Uhm, they stopped subbing Eureka 7? I downloaded ep 1 to 9 but seems thats as far as i can find, even though peoples have seen as far as episode 16, i guess all subs of those got deleted >_<

Bad Buggy, you know not to ask for PMs of licensed material

btw, what episode is Monster on. It's getting ridiculously addictive and I'd like to know when I'll be out of new episodes.

The most recent subbed episode that I can find is episode 59.

Is there a place to find Keroro Gunso raws? I still can't find them anywhere. I LOVE the manga and I want more!! :)

Just search google for "IIchan translation group." They also have the Emma manga up and translated; I'd recommend it over the anime (as always).

The anime does a pretty good job of adapting the original story, but unfortunately only lasts for 12 episodes, so if anything, watch all the eps and then read the manga which is still ongoing.

Akahori Gedou Hour Rabuge

Excel Sagaish comedy, with Excellent Evil as the good guys and some of the most rediculous explosions anime has ever seen. It's just a good fun show. :)

So is Eureka stuck on 9? That sucks. It was getting really good. Not a friendly pace for an addicting show. I'm really fearing getting to episode 59 of Monster. It's been amazing up until now, as I've been watching 2-3 episodes a night, more when the plot really got intense. I'm on 43 now and can't imagine what an episode at a time will be like. With some of these cliffhanger episodes, and I'm sure the finale, I won't be able to handle it.
