Best games like Subnautica?

I played through Subnautica again the other day and really loved it like the first time but Id like to try something new, but similar.

What other games would you recommend? I looked at a few lists online but I’d love gafs opinion. I loved the base building and exploration of Subnautica.

I’m currently leaning towards doing a fallout 4 run through again as I love the building in that but would love more comments.

No mans sky. I think they even patched it to have underwater exploration.
IMO, exploration in No Man's Sky is not meaningful in the same way Subnautica is. But base building is pretty neat, I agree. Also, if you're into having the shiniest tech and upgrading that tech, No Man's Sky is your game.

As far as exploration goes, if you haven't played Outer Wilds yet, you're in for a treat. No base building and not tech upgrading, but man the exploration is unbeatable.

The Forest and Sons of the Forest are really cool. The nights in those games give the creepy, vulnerable vibes that Subnautica does. Survival crafting with more combat than Subnautica.

Do not listen to those who suggest No Man's Sky, there's not much similar about them except perhaps aesthetically. Play NMS, try it out, but do not go in expecting a Subnautica-feel.

In the end of the day, Subnautica is its own thing. There's not really any similar game out there - IMO

If you want survival, there are plenty. The Forest and Sons of the forest are very similar, thought they are also violent and scary.

Don't go with Subnautica Below zero as it's bad. Their writer left them midway and it shows in its bad story full of holes, plus they emphasize land walking (which was the worse part), cramped environments and worse designs in general.

If you liked being dropped in a vast open dangerous world with mystery solving aspect, the best out there is is Outer Wilds.
It's one of the best games I ever played, and made me look into saubnautica to fill the gap it left. It doesn't have base building and your many deaths are part of the story, but it nails the exploration and the mystery you solve in one of the best in gaming.
Be ware of spoilers, as it's a very information driven game, and once you know all the answers you can finish it in 5 minutes, so it's very sensitive to spoilers.
