Best Intro in a game

+1 for Metal Gear Solid (PS1)... just watched it again, and now I remember how blown away I was at the time by the "motion blur" effects, which were pretty new to the PS1 at the time. The music that plays as Snake is swimming up to the underground dock (the one with the woman singing) really *makes* that scene, too.

The MGS2 *trailer* that played at E3 was jaw-dropping...

Leon: "Get down!" *pop*
Zombie: *gasp* *thud*

Classsssic. I would have given my left nut for a REmake caliber remake of Resident Evil 2.

For all of you who've posted Wild Arms: have you ever seen The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly? Watch the ending, just as it rolls into the credits. Wild Arms "borrowed" HEAVILY from that flick musically. I'm not saying that the intro music sucked - it didn't. I'm just saying that having seen that movie coincidentally a couple months before playing the game, I noticed it right away. "hmm, they did a spin of TGTBaTU... cool animation tho..."

The Wild Arms intro does indeed ROCK. The music is the best part of it. *whistles the tune*

Oh, sweet nostalgia.

Doh! I almost forgot!

Metal Gear Solid 2. That topped my previous favorite, which was Soul Blade, which topped my previous favorite, which was Panzer Dragoon, which topped Chrono Trigger.

I guess its how its the intro was just so... trailerish. The music for the intro was godly, and the part where the music crescendos and Snake falls into water, all the music stops - and one lone horn starts the rest of the tune. I get chills EVERY time I see that part.

Red Alert
Battlefield 2
Rome: Total War
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Zelda: A Link to the Past
World of Warcraft
Diablo 2

I loved Soul Calibur II's intro.

Mitsurugi hopping over the boats dodging musket fire, then slicing through the guy blocking was over the top:

Yep, that and MGS3's true intro are my absolute favorites. They get me pumped everytime.

that intro rocked!

Though...I DO have to give ups for the Wild Arms into...so memorable...and the whistling...god the whistling....

<3

Yeah I really liked Shadow Hearts: Covenant's intro... Eventhough it re-uses scenes from the game, I love the music and the way it complements the on-screen visuals.

One of my favorite intros is for:

HOMEWORLD 2

And honorable mention, Homeworld. It uses a kind of animated concept art idea, and works really really well. Great voice acting also...

More stuff like this please Relic!
