Best New Games for Retro Systems

I love new games for retro systems and couldn't find a dedicated thread for it so thought I'd start one. I'm mainly an Amiga game player but also enjoy other systems from that era. I've been unable to find a general aggregator of discussion of these new games besides the odd Youtube video or these 3 great resources:

For new Amiga games: Games released in 2025 index https://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19878 (also has every year back to 2012 with a final list on the first page of each thread)

IndieRetroNews (for lots of different systems) https://www.indieretronews.com/

For new Sega games: List of 2025 Homebrew Games on SEGA Console (Genesis, Dreamcast, SMS etc.) https://segabits.com/forums/index.php?topic=4711.0 (also has every year back to 2006) https://segabits.com/forums/index.php?topic=3890.0

Not gonna lie, I love seeing new releases in old platform

I hope someone one day releases a good tool for old console dev (I know there are engines, but more easy, like UE or Unity) so there is a revolution of new games in old platfoms.

A man can dream

Scorpion Engine https://www.youtube.com/@earok is based on Unity and is quite easy to use. It supports Amiga, Mega Drive and Neo Geo and I've actually made a few games with it for the Amiga with no prior coding experience. It can create very high quality stuff, Castlevania AGA, Dr Dangerous, Bunnitos' Feast, Maria Renard's Revenge and Boxx 4 for the Amiga that I listed above and Hayato's Journey for the Mega Drive were all done with it.

How about some free games for the Game Boy Advance?

Butano Fighter (playable in web browser) -> https://gvaliente.itch.io/butano-fighter

Varoom 3D (playable in web browser) -> https://gvaliente.itch.io/varooom-3d

This one's a GBA 3D game that runs at 60fps. Even if you aren't into cars I'd say it's worth to check it out.

...left the best for last:

Ridge Racer GBA, running at 30fps with some very crisp audio streaming going on in there

Love these games, especially on the Mega Drive, which seems to have a pretty good scene at the moment.

One thing I don't get, is the Amiga console type games and arcade ports... Why were 90% of them so bad? either the level design, gameplay loop, or they were broken on a technical level compared to machines like the Genesis that should have been destroyed by the Amiga in some ways (and not so in others, because the early chipsets allowed for less colors on screen).

I get that the ports from Atari ST made things worse, but this is not the whole story I am sure.

I definitely wouldn't say 90% of Amiga action games were bad, in fact I personally think the Amiga has a better action library than all the consoles https://www.neogaf.com/threads/my-thoughts-after-trying-every-snes-genesis-and-amiga-game.1658649/ For arcade ports there were a lot of good ones like Rodland, Pang, Saint Dragon, Pacmania, Mortal Kombat, Golden Axe etc. but yes Atari ST ports were a part of the problem and also the fact that back then most of the time the home computer developers weren't given any arcade assets and were given crazy, unrealistic deadlines.
