So i got through playing Ridge Racer DS, and finally decided to go to bed. After a half hour of insomnia and rubbing my eyes, i get up and go to the bathroom. i do the typical late night face check, and notice a bump that looks like a mosquito bite on my right upper eyelid. Can't remember the last time i had one of these.

i blame either the fact that i had the flu a few days ago, and have been rubbing my eyes (although washing my hands), or Ridge Racer DS, which is actually getting a bit better the further i get into it.

In any case, i googled up "sty treatment", and most of the sites recommend a warm compress. One recommended fresh potato peels in a warm cloth. i'm about to go to bed, but i peeled a potato and have been applying the potato directly to the sty. i know it's not a common thing, but does anyone else know of anything that works? i've got work later today and i'd rather not go looking like a freak. It's not horrid but i'm really self conscious about my face.

basically, it's a pimple on the outsize/inside of your eyelid caused by bacteria found in your nose or mouth.

Now I'm off to reply to BuddyC's thread.

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated

If you get them regularly, go see a doctor. Reoccurring sties can be an early sign of eye-lid cancer.

Geez, there really is a cancer for everything, isn't there. Be cautious of public toilets, less you contract ass-cheek cancer!

I know it's ridiculous, be it's can be very serious. And, there are several types of eyelid cancer, each affected different lids. Anyway, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Not for the faint of heart:

i ended up peeling a potato and holding the peeled side to the sty for twenty minutes. Then i applied a warm cloth for ten or so minutes. i noticed the sty went down after the potato peel treatment. Can't believe it actually worked. :)

Edit: The potato is still in the fridge. i should really do something with it...

For some reason I pictured you peeling your eyelid with the peeler. :lol

I've had a sty only once in my lifetime and I was sort of young, so I'm not really sure how long it lasted. Maybe a week.

Having a sty sucks especially when you're in high school. I had one in 11th grade, horrible. People kept thinking I had a bruised eye from getting into a fight. I just kept applying a towel with very hot water over it, after a week it went away and never came back.

Warm compresses and Advil is what I've done in the past. I have long eyelashes for a guy, so I tend to be prone to them...thankfully none in the recent past though. (My sister wants to take my eyelashes and eyebrows...whatever THAT means.)

Hmm... I need to do some of this shit. I've had a sty for like a month now. It's starting to look like death and really hurt.
