Best Wireless Xbox / PS2 controllers?

My dog just chewed through the cable on my Xbox controller. :P

So now I need a new one, and wireless would clearly be superior given the situation. Eventually I may want a wireless PS2 controller as well.

I've seen the Logitech controllers mentioned, any others that are worth looking at?

Thanks in advance.

Nope. I've used several, and I decided on the logitech ones. I also like the fact that my Logitech wireless Xbox controller and my Logitech wireless PS2 controller are so similar. Then again, I was never a big fan of the dual shock to begin with.

I almost wish that they made one for the Gamecube too, but my Wavebird is just so good ;)

Logitech's PS2 controller (Cordless Action) is fantastic. It's the only wireless PS2 controller I've tried, but I can't imagine another one being better. IMO it's even better than Nintendo's Wavebird.

As for Xbox, I've tried both of Logitech's wireless controllers. The old, wide model that takes 4 AAs is better than the new one. The new one (Cordless Precision) has a fatal flaw: the face buttons stink. I really have to mash the buttons to get them to register. The old controller is bulky and a battery sucker, but the buttons and sticks work just fine.

Logitech 'Action' wireless controllers are fantastic (I only have the PS2 one). I just ordered a second one a few days ago. I even use them to play Saturn games - via an adapter. The only bad thing is that the d-pad could be better, but for almost all instances it's the perfect controller.

The 2nd smaller revision of Logitech's wireless controller for the PS2(which is the one you should be seeing in stores these days), is easily the best wireless controller for the PS2.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I can. If you don't jam on the buttons, you will quickly get frustrated. Girly taps won't cut it with this controller. The XBOX version is the only one with this problem I think. The PS2 version never gave me any lip.

That's strange. I have both the old and new versions of the Logitech Xbox controller, and have never had a problem with the buttons. I do prefer the new version however, as it's closer to the controller-s, and the d-pad is much better.

All I have to say for the PS2 is:

Not the Mad Catz one. I have to turn the controller off and back on all the fucking time. And the left fucking analog stick is like, a "sometimes" thing.

I'll further vouch for the PS2 one, it's grand. I've not liked either Xbox version. I hear that one of the Pelican Eclipse (I hope that's it) models is really good.

after the wavebird I vowed to only purchase first party wireless controllers. Thus I have ps2 controller extensions untill ps3.

really even the best 3rd party controllers don't stack up IMO, why should any different be true with wireless?

My friend has two Logitechs for Xbox, and I'm assuming they're the two-battery version. The face buttons do indeed suck like people have already mentioned. They have no on/off switch but rather automatically turn on when you power on the Xbox, and sometimes it takes one or both of them a couple minutes to turn on. Also, at least one of the pads will often think the L button is down when it is not; most of the time when we start a mission in Halo, the first thing Player 1 does is chuck all his grenades automatically.

All that said, he's got two big dogs and three cats, and there's no way corded controllers would ever work for him, so the Logitechs are his only real option.

well...I guess you could just try the logitech ps2 controller which is as good as the Wavebird in my time with them both. But....blind oaths are fine too :)

Yeah my dog did the same thing so I went and picked up a Logitech Wireless (xbox) here is a picture of him disapointed at the lack of wires..

I like the controller tho I do have issues with it
-sensitive L and R buttons (opps dropped a grenade on Halo2 multiplayer and killed all my team)
- Crappy D pad , yeah it feels good but it starts to wear out after a while ( I play Sf3 alot)

but aside from that its a solid controller.

Unfortunately I can confirm that issue with the face buttons on the new, smaller Logi Xbox controller. Sticks and triggers are ok, though. It's functional for most games except fighters.

How it got screwed up is a mystery. The PS2 version is flawless.

The Wireless Precision for the X-Box iz crap.

The extra amount of pressure you hav to apply to almost all the buttons makes it not worth the $.

Bump on this thread:

Is this controller the good Logitech PS2 controller? Everyone talks about the "second revision," so I don't want to buy the wrong one.

Yep, that's the one.

I picked up a second one refurbished on ebay for £11 last week, well worth the money.

The wireless logitech controller was my first third party one in a while too, as usually third party sucks. all my gaming friends were pessimistic about it too but after using it they all want to use it when playing multiplayer - it's really good. The dpad could be better, but it's a small price to pay. Really, you should give it a shot.
