Both are $200, 5GB, with fm tuner. Can't decide.

Personally, I've found the H10 a bit more user-friendly. However, my suggestion for you would be: go to a store, try them both out in your hand, then decide.

Creative's website has a pretty good deal on their 5gig model. You get a beltclip and stand, power adapter, pouch, and extra battery with some colors. You can call them directly and find out which color would give you the full kit. If I remember correctly Orange and Black did not have the extra stuff.

Haven't tried an H10 yet, but I love my iRiver H140. Own it a couple of years now and I never experienced a single problem with it.

Own the micro and couldnt wait for the price drop on the H10. H10 is great. I've had the Zen only a month or so and i'm having problems with it. Mainly with the headphone port. So buy the H10

If u can go an extra $100, these things actually have a decent battery life (30 - 40 hrs) and you can replace it yourself. Its taken Sony a while but this is a fair attempt.

While it is a pro that the sony one has a battery life of 30 - 40 hours, the zen micro and the H10 both have batteries that are easily replaceable as well.

I have a video of a person that showcases how the H10 works here: Video of H10

I've always thought the H10 Looked really sexy in red. Though I guess it wouldn't be the best idea to buy something based only on how it looks. :lol

If he's gonna get a 20 - 30 gig player, might as well go with iAudio X5L, same battery life better interface more features.

I suggest checking out them both in the store. I wouldn't ever buy the 20 gig H10 since it's a neutered version of the H320, but as a 5 gig player I guess it's pretty nice.

There are so many threads about iRiver vs. iPod not to mention all the competitors. I'm hopelessly confused as I planned on buying one this weekend. I've been reading the reviews at CNet...they seem to overrate aesthetics as that's not an important selling feature of the mp3 player to me. That said, there doesn't seem to be a clear winner feature wise :(

iPod - seems a tad overpriced for the feature set. I like the compatability of iTunes and their shuffling/rating features.

iRiver - The H10 20gb seems nice feature wise. I hear wildly conflicting reports on the quality of it's interface and sound quality.

Cowan iAudio - CNet says it's in desperate need of a firmware update.

I don't care about video/photos, I want a FM tuner and I want at least 20gb storage. Also, ease of music transfer from PC would be good. I don't really want to spend more than 300-350. HELP.

with that being said....

I NEED a nice 40gig + player. I've got 1 gig free left on my 30 gig player. Seems like my only option is the 60 gig version of my current player (Nomad Zen Xtra). It's the only player out with a replaceable battery option(hacking my player to replace the battery is ghey). I wanted a color screen without giving in to Apple's photo iPod and looks like Creative's new player doesn't come with a removable battery option or color screen.

Cowon iAudio: Fuck CNet. Seriously. They don't know their asses from holes in the ground when it comes to DAPS. It needs an (American) firmware for ID3 tagging and RMA. If you absolutely NEED RMA or ID3 tagging you'll be happy to know that ID3 is included in the newest Korean firmware... but it's ID3 only so you lose the filetree system.

An american firmware is due out this month that allows both ID3 and Filetree + RMA.

The interface is fine, the sound quality is ACE, the feature set it unparalleled, and the battery life in the X5L is unmatched.

Edit: Nevermind! The newest firmware is released. :rock

Nevermind, this one is just to add more cameras to the USB OtG compatibility.

So wait, the iAudio doesn't do metadata? What kind of POS is that?
It uses metadata to display title, author, etc. during playback. You just can't browse by metadata (only file tree).

Hitokage said:
Ok, but that's still pretty lame.

It's in the firmware upgrade, they just take away the filetree so it's ID3 browsing only.

It's a beta so a new firmware upgrade will provide both filetree AND ID3, and until then I'm not flashing over.

This is what I want...why most of the other formats have followed along with this assinine built in battery bullshit is beyond me.

You'd be surprised how many idiots put a premium on the looks of something that'll be in their fucking pocket...

New H10s have a never firmware that fixes the distortion you get with bass. I have the older model and while the majority of songs sound good some are really messed up. I wish I had the 20 gig model now. My 5 is almost filled up.

I agree. While I really like my ipod mini, I dislike the fact that it has a built-in battery :(

btw...for myself, I spent some time trying out the different players (good advice!) and comparing the features to price. I went with the H10 20gb. Very, very pleased so far.
