Betty white is 99 years old...

Some fun facts

- she played a senior citizen in the 80s
- she remembers when there were no TVs.
- she was a teen when the first McDonald’s opened.
- when she was born, women had just obtained the right to vote.
- when she was a toddler the first flights across the Atlantic took place.
- when she was young electric computers did not even exist.
- was born only 40 years after the first gas powered car was invented.

She pretty much started life in the horse and buggy era and is now in an advanced technological era.

My nana turns 99 in may this year, kindred spirits in humour and health at Betty's age. It's crazy to have a reasonably "fast and normal" conversation with a 99 year old. They have so many stories and unique perspectives on things. Amazing era changeover to have lived through for their ages.

My grandmother is 90 and still dislikes “old people.” She refuses to have anything to do with other old people because she thinks they are dull, slow, and feeble.

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy
If she turns again, she still is 99.
Even more amazing is that Kirk Douglas lived till last year, at age 104, as did Olivia de Haviland.

Betty White is not quite there yet.

I know it’s hard for some people to fathom but for thousands of years there weren’t shit. The same basics everyday you had fire which you had to create and maintain yourself, you had dirty water which you had retrieve and heat yourself. You killed or obtained food from someone who killed it or grew it yourself, and had to prepare and store it yourself.

that was life pretty much forever up until the Industrial Age. Technology has advanced so far in such a short period of time that there are still people alive who has lived through it all is pretty damn remarkable. Add to that a well loved celebrity who started at the very beginning of film and tv and is still working now.

all interesting facts but explain to me how she was born in the horse and buggy era if she was born 40 years after the car was invented?

min the early 1900s the model T was out and gaining traction but most roads were still dirt roads in the US and most people took trains to travel great distances. Horse and buggies were still in use in a lot of areas.

‘By the early 1910s, the number of automobileshad surpassed the number of buggies, but their use continued well into the 1920s and even the 1930s in out of the way places.”

So she wasn't born in the age of horse and buggies, thanks

No you don’t know how to read apparently..
I said pretty much. Which means not exactly ... Which is true. Lots of people still used horse and biggies at that time.

Going to say something controversial that will likely get me banned from this forum forever since this is what happened when I commented like this on Resetera.

She's hot

I love you all. Peace out.

Betty White is going to outlive me at this point. The woman is immortal.

I think the first time I remember seeing her in a film was Dennis the Menace: Strikes Again when I was younger. Not a great film though by any stretch watching it now. Younger me loved it. :messenger_grinning_smiling:
