BF2 - Hey, how bout we use the blackhawk?

The blackhawk isnt just a transport from the carrier to land. You know its possible for pilots to drop into populated areas, pick people up, and drop them in contested areas.

I keep seeing people use them as gun platforms on maps with jets. WHAT?! Transport, thats it. Drop then run the hell away. Rescue people in a pinch.

Its not just the pilots. I pilot the blackhawk constantly, yet people seem completely ignorant as to what can be accomplished with this awesome vehicle. DAMN YOU BF2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pick up a squad, fly to the nearest enemy/ grey flag, circle around while your guys gun down the infantry with mounted miniguns, land, squad dismounts, captures the flag,

"Mount up! Mount up!"

take off.

Rinse and repeat.

The best game I had was driving one of those around and doing exactly what Borys said, it was awesome.

Unfortunately that was the demo and not retail. It seems now on every map theyre pointless and just a easy target for jets, aa and assault helis. Noone wants to hop in something that is gonna blow up within the minute. They also cant gun when your trying to do evasive actions, which you have to do the whole flight.

I feel your pain, but tonight I was actually in a good VOIP squad for a few rounds. It was great and we were all in sync and using all the vehicles to their potential. The commander was also good and the other team was well organized as well. It was some of the best times I've had all year in any game.

ive seen crews take a chopper and hover it next to the flag for the cap and then move on. badass.

but yeah, when this game is goo, its great! haveing a nice tight squad do their job turns this game into something special. lots of fun.

it can be a real mess with a shitty/unorganized team though.

ive been having a lot of fun with it so far.

are there any good tips for flying helicopters? I have a dual analog pad, so keeping a steady hover throttle is not too bad compared to keys. but is there a good way to get the bloody thing level?

I'm ignoring rolls for now, but there still seems to be quite a lag between response, and no obvious way I can see to judge speed etc.

Or can you recommend a map to practice on?

I hoped on the .50 cal of the Black Hawk last night for the first time, and we dropped a guy off at a base, then flew around base to base taking them. Just me on the .50, and the pilot. We'd just land next to the flag, and I'd mow everyone down or at least scare them away. We never got shot down. It was great.

I am in a clan. Not sponsored or professional though. We played competetively in BF42, BF:V and CS:S and are getting ready to play play BF2 on TWL.
