BF2 - It doesnt pay to be an engineer.

Not on a ranked server anyway. No one apprently looks for mines when they drive around so when they hit one of mine ITS PUNISHMENT TIME since they dont know how to fuggin drive. God damnit 3 guys in an APC hit a mine and freak out. THEY CAN SEE MY MINES! jesus. So they all punish me and my stats take a fuck up the ass.

OH man, I love a shotgun when im storming a flag point. Sucks for approach but when youre in the thick of it, id have nothing else.

I accidently shot a medic who was coming to heal me the other day. Don't bust out of a corner and suddenly go prone on me! That's combat tactics!

I hate blind people (well no, not people who are blind for real, just those in games).

The mines are visible (IIRC there is an icon over each friendly mine, also you get a huge friggin WARNING ICON to the right of the screen).

Also, all shotguns should be banned. The jackhamer which you later can unlock sucks huge balls, same goes for the American shotgun, the MEC shotgun is a little better though. I think they should take out the shotguns and give the engineers a Special ops rifle or a H&K.

Not a match goes by where I don't hear Engineers whine about this problem...as well as Commander's whine about punishment for arty drops.

Good thing you clarified that point, you wouldn't want any blind people reading your post and getting upset.

Who knows, they might have displays with braille text. They read with their fingers, magical!

And of course text to speech programs. I tried using one to navigate a website with the monitor turned off once. It was hard as fuck.

I was about to defend my precious Engineer, and then I noticed my 2:32 ratio with the Shotgun. I need to learn how to play infantry in this game. :(

I have had some streaks of complete ownage with the Shotgun as an Engineer. It has good range for a shotgun, and the MEC shotgun on some maps is semi-automatic. I like it.

I feel bad for Engineer's. They are extremely valuable, but must be such a pain in the ass to play. (That is why I stick to Spec Ops)

I am guilty of running over mines. Alot of the time I have my face buried in the minimap that I don't really pay attention to my surroundings. I always !forgivetk though. They really should lessen the TK punishment for artillery and claymores. It's just not fair.

Here is a great story. I was on one of those city seige maps (MEC v USMC). A group of us were getting pelted by two sets of armored units. A few died, and the rest were injured. Some brave ass medic ran ACROSS the street (dodging bullets and tank fire) to bandage us and revive a few of us. As he is running away I wanted to get his name, his name turned up RED! (meaning he was an enemy) Holy shit. I didn't know enemies could bandage each other. So as he was running to save other people, I popped a few shots in him and killed him. HE WAS ON OUR TEAM! Oh noes! I didn't even know about this bug! He must have been an admin, because I was kicked off 5 seconds after that (probably for good reason in his eyes).

Imagine being a medic, saving someones ass, then that guy shoots you as you are running away to save the next guy. lol

You heartless bastard. :lol

Even if an enemy medic COULD revive you, you'd repay him by blowing his nuts off? :lol :lol

Granted I only have played for about 8 hours total, but I find it very hard to discern between friend and foe. In alot of cases, someone hiding in the shadows just looks like a moving blob to me.

Maybe this will change once I get 50 or so hours under my belt.

I only play as Engineer.

The trick is to always spawn with armor near by that you can get into. You're going to have a real hard time killing anyone with that shotgun, so realize your weakness and grab a tank or APC. Both have super accurate weapons and shield you from being 'wtfkilled' (except by the occasional sneaky Spec Ops' C4). If you do get killed your armor had to have been destroyed as well, which means it'll be respawning with you.

As for mines, yeah... you're going to end up killing more teammates than enemies with 'em, I still haven't figured that one out. I use them as kind of a poor man's C4, if I'm on foot an I see enemy armor trying to cap a flag or shooting at someone else, I'll try to run up and lay a mine down behind one of it's real wheels and one in front of it front wheels.

I wouldn't bother unlocking the engineer's weapon either. It's weapon spread and damage is the same as the other shotguns, the only difference is it's full auto so it can blast off six shots very quickly. But since you need still need to be face to face to kill people with it, and since the other shotguns will one shot kill anyone at that range, there's no use for a full auto shotgun.

Honestly they should just turn team damage off on mines or something, they're almost useless on ranked servers right now. Kill an APC full of idiot team members and your score is fucked the rest of the game.

As for people bitching about the shotgun, I use the jeep to close into a capture point and the shotgun takes care of business close range once im there. Its not for sniping, thats for sure. the 9mm is also very fast and if you finish a clip with a headshot youre pretty much set.

grabbing armor isnt always possible, so it doesnt hurt to learn the weapons at hand. When I played 1942 I learned the scopeless no4 inside n out, and I was all the better for it.

While I originally thought it inferior to SpecOps, I've been on a roll with Assault lately. That grenade launcher is an absolute life saver, and is super handy when the enemy groups up. I must've had 20 kills in a short game earlier today from grenades alone.

Just spent the last game in a truck roaming around repairing shit since its clear I cant participate in combat since people are stupid.

actually, it's not an APC full of idiots... it only takes an idiot driver. the passengers have no say in the matter.

Yeah but they could at least take the time to hit page up and forgive you for it. Actually I think most people dont even notice the "forgive" menu pop up, or that they've even been TK'd accidently. Since its automatically a punishment if you dont make a choice your score can get screwed in a hurry. I hope in the patch they make score punishment something you have to choose to do instead.

Anyhow I actually racked up 20+ kills with mines last night on the Songhua (sp?) Stalemate map. I was able to reduce TK's to about 3 or 4 by not placing the mines in the middle of the road when defending a base, but on the side of the path where I figured the enemy would most likely get clipped on entry. I still had a couple morons run over them though. One player asked what the Skull and Crossbones mean, and I dont think he was kidding.

Engineer is my fave kit to play as. That or anti tank. Always rack up the most kills w/ those 2. Oh, and why does the MEC shotgun have a much faster rate of fire than the US shotgun? Am I missing something here? Hardly seems fair.

You could ask the same question regarding the Chinese and MEC transpost choppers. Neither are the equivalent of the USMC's Blackhawk, but that's just the way it is.

Heh, I was palying LAN with some guys yesterday and it was funny because I'd always get commander and artilary the other bases, send out UAVs, etc. And everyone kept asking how to become commander so I should them, and they kept trying to mutiny me but never succeeding so I got tired and let someone else do it, and man I admit I'm not the best commander by any means but they didn't do jack!

They always kept saying stuff like "How do I use Artilary, send out uavs etc." I mean look, why don't you guys learn that stuff on your OWN time, being the only one who knew what I was doing I quickly mutinyed and took over.
