Big Brother 11 (US)

The CBS Summer reality staple is back for yet another season, starting Thursday July 9 at 8PM Eastern. It'll still be airing the customary three times a week on TV, and live 24/7 via their online subscription service.

Take a tour of the revamped BB house here, but be warned: your speakers will be assaulted by Ross The Intern.

Details about the season have been seeping out, and most importantly, the season's twist is out. Here's a summary posted on RealityBBQ:

First up, we have a theme throughout the house this year – called “The Have and The Have-Not’s”. You should be able to get the general idea regarding what that’s about from the name.

Now to much talked about High School theme that has caused various rumors to spread out over the internet. Here is how it will work:

Big Brother has cast people who they believe represent some typical high school stereotypes (four cliques: Jocks, Populars, Braniacs, and Outcasts). However, it will not be Big Brother pairing them up. Once they enter the house, they will be told to form the cliques themselves – Big Brother will not force them together like Big Brother 9. In other words, Big Brother could have cast someone that they see as a Jock but the houseguests could decide that they are a “geek” instead.

Once these cliques are formed, they will play as teams for a while, but they will eventually split off into individuals and play the Big Brother Game by themselves.

Cast photos / bios will probably be revealed later today, or in the coming days at the latest.

Planning to watch, GAF?

Yes I am.

I wish it was like last season though. Just good old fashioned Big Brother action.

I am so glad that
Jen is back from BB8, she was my fav
.

I'm really excited for this. I usually watch BB religiously except for the last season where they put it on due to the writer's strike. I regret it but at the time I didn't feel like watching it, I guess half the awesome factor of BB is the fact that nothing else is on tv during the summer because for summer seasons I go obsessed.

Thanks for the reminder.

Nice. My wife and I have been loking forward to this. Are they going to do 'After Dark' on Showtime again?

edit: US Version. No Penis or nudity during the main broadcast, but they have the live 24/7 feeds online and hopefully the showtime thing and that shows everything. You can probably still find April and Ollie from last year boning on youtube.

Blargh. I'd been daydreaming of making this thread for months.

Oh well, at least I won't feel like a failure when it doesn't make it past the second page like the last couple seasons. :lol

I didn't really watch either season last year. I'm kind of getting burned out on it, but I'll give it a shot.

Superficial Predictions

The "have/have not" better only last for a couple days. It seems very unevenly stacked. The "nerd" group looks to only contain Ronnie, Casey, Michele, Kevin, and maybe Lydia or Natalie.

Chima or Russel will be the first voted out.

Natalie is going to be the new Amber.

Braden will be the first to try and make a dude alliance, but also be the first to flip flop.

Ronnie is going to have something up his sleeve. I doubt he's going to try and be a floater.

I'm going to root for Kevin and Michele initially.

I'm going to incessantly pleasure myself to Jordan on a daily basis.

I canceled Showtime during that blasphemous Season 9. Doesn't most of the good stuff end up on the internet anyway?

I have a new puppy now, so I really can't be staying up until 2am every night.

I guess, but I've always had showtime, so I just watch it before I go to sleep. And what the hell does a puppy have to do with staying up late? I've got 2 kids and still do it!!

He wakes up at 5 or 6 in the morning. I'm not enough of a man to survive on 3-4 hours of sleep.

He's also one of those puppies that needs constant supervision, so I can't just zone out and watch the episodes the next day or something.

Is that confirmed somewhere or still just an internet rumor?

Cast video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMGhUMYIWl8

Thoughts:

Jordan is so dumb, she can't even pose to get her picture taken. I guess Jessica was a dipshit to start out too and she ended up pretty cool.

FUCK Braden.

Holy boobs Laura.

I have the biggest crush on Michele already. Smart and hot? Um, yes please.

Ronnie is an "obsessed gamer" and collects Star Wars toys, so he'll probably fit in around here nicely. He also has some kind of photographic memory about the Big Brother game.

Lydia and Casey seem neat after seeing them in motion.

I watch this show every now and then. I've watched Seasons 2 and 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9.

A lot of people talk about season 2 but I think 8 was my all time favorite. Great cast...and times where you could cut the tension with a knife.

There isn't much TV this summer AND I like the look of the cast this year. Nice mixing and matching of ages, not grade D model and actor dominated, average people...that's the best mix for this thing. I don't like forced teams...cheesy shit.

I cannot WAIT! I love me some Big Brother. Not enough to subscribe 24/7, but I'm always on Jokersupdates and stuff informing my friends about what happened before the episode airs. :lol

BB After Dark is usually entertaining, too. Seeing them unedited is sometimes very different than what they appear to be on air.

After watching the video, I don't really like the houseguests at all. I stay that every year, though - I always warm up to them. I think Jeff is going to be my favorite just from the video.

Yeah I used to be the type of guy who just watched the shows and avoided spoilers but now I really only watch the eviction nights. I'll occasionally watch recap episodes but now I just search the tube for any of the hot gossip going on around the house.

I kind of feel like After Dark has run its course. I think it was last season where they wouldn't do anything until after midnight because they were cognizant of being on tv. How this is technically any different from the "24"/7 live feeds, I don't really understand. Wider audience I guess...

I normally use thebigbrothersite.com for my live feed transcriptions. It's a pretty small place, so there isn't a clusterfuck of stuff to sift through. I started visiting some other site last year, but I can't remember what the hell it was. The one where the site owner was like on his death bed for the last two years. Morty or something?

Nevermind, lol. I'm stupid.

I can see how the thread will go right now, though.. the same people over and over again with a few stragglers popping in and out.

Have to keep the beast alive somehow...

I have no idea why last season's thread barely made it to two pages when Season 8 made it to 17. The power of Jessica I guess.

Maybe because Season 8 was the best season of all time?

Never a down moment there.
Haha, yeah that probably is a better reason. I keep forgetting how boring 10 was in the grand scheme of things because I was coming back from quitting 9 after the first couple weeks.

Another cast video showcasing the stereotypes CBS signed them up for:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYERdeJPtK8

That Laura girl is waaaay to full of herself. Take her boobs away and she has nothing remotely viable in the looks department.

Edit:

Here are some whorish "modeling" pics of her. I guess she's alright with her mouth shut and a bunch of air brushing.

http://www.campussqueeze.com/themes/CampusSqueeze/SqueezeGirls/Features/Laura-Crosby/Default.aspx

AP article quote:

At the start, the cast will be divided into teams. One clique will be joined by a mystery 13th houseguest when the show premieres July 9. Rumors have been swirling online that the 13th spot would go to a contestant who appeared in a previous season of "Big Brother." HTML code on the show's official Web site points to someone with the first name Brian.

I really don't like this team bullshit, especially now that I finally comprehend there will be four groups.

Blargh. I'd been daydreaming of making this thread for months.

I apologize about stepping out from under you if you intended to start one up. I just saw that today would be CBS' big 'reveal' day and figured I'd go ahead and start it. Hopefully it'll be an awesome season and a good thread regardless!

The one where the site owner was like on his death bed for the last two years. Morty or something?

MortysTV.com, that's also been my BB transcript site of choice for years. They were always a couple of hours late, but insead of just posting raw transcripts, they'd post actual descriptions of what happened and how it related to the rest of the day's events. I'm not sure if it's still going on for BB12 or not, I haven't heard what became of ol' Morty.

But I usually subscribe to the feeds myself, especially in the past Summers when I was out of work and in school. It's incredibly addicting. I'll be buying the feeds just in case I have an opportunity to spend a few nights watching it a week, it's pretty inexpensive, but thankfully YouTube and these update sites make it a lot easier to catch up on the house when you miss the feeds than it was a few years ago.

Haha, there's no way you could have known. It's all good.

It looks like Mortys is back this year. I don't know if anyone actually gets the live feeds, but I saw this on the site:

With Big Brother 11 starting on Thursday, July 9th, you only have 7 days to save 25% on the live feeds by using our earlybird coupon. For a limited time, you can sign up for the entire Big Brother 11 season for $29.99. On July 9th, that price goes up to $39.99 for the entire season. When signing up, use coupon code “BB11QTEARLY” and save 25% off the regular price… but be sure to do so before July 9th.

Man... I'm talking to my buddy about the new season and I just keep getting madder and madder about this whole grouping bullshit. Did they not learn any lessons from 9? I am insanely happy that they actually got different types of people this year. However, they should not be forced to team up.

Interview with Allison revealed some more tidbits:

Four groups of three

Not like season 9 soulmates where BB forced them together

This is still an individual game

Big Brother created a system where you want to be in the ‘in-crowd’

Each player wants the perks of being in the in-crowd

If one member of a clique wins Head of Household, other members of that clique cannot be nominated

Third bedroom is "one of the worst rooms in Big Brother history"

Instead of traditional Food Competitions, there are now Have and Have Not competitions

Losers of the Have and Have Not competition are subject to worst living conditions in BB history

Have Nots subject to a cold room, cold showers, food restrictions, and bright lights that never turn off

No details regarding the 13th Mysterious Houseguest will be released until July 9th Angry

Starting second week, viewers will decide the food restriction

The Have Nots will get slop in addition to America’s food restriction

The exercise bikes and lightbulbs might come into play later this summer

This pretty much confirms:

- Someone will get voted off the first episode. Four groups of three plus there only being twelve chairs at the dining table doesn't really leave room for thirteen guests.

- The exercise bikes are supposed to be energy creators or some crap, so it looks like one week they won't have any electricity unless someone is pedaling.

- I keep looking through the cast and I cannot figure out how the groups are going to pair up, especially the Nerd and Outcasts.

I think last season was really good... It was a shame that Libra left so early. Drama (her fault, and not) followed her like the plague. But when she left it was a bore-fest. Everything went Dan and Memphis' way and they won. That sucks so much. We all knew that no one stood a chance after the change up when Jessie was sent packing... Michelle could have turned the house upside down by getting out April and/or Keesha that week, but she went with her heart, and got sent packing soon thereafter, and with her and Libra gone, all potential for a really good season were gone... But who am I kidding, that was gone when they decided to keep Renny over Brian. Now I liked Renny, but she brought nothing to the table. x_x

I still have not seen one even remote confirmation of this. She was at the media day event that was held already in the house.

The only thing I've read was posted already from the AP article (which I'm assuming is legit):

Yeah, she was at media day. That was a rumor she was/is coming back. Also heard it could have been Shiela, whom I would love. But it could be Brian. I mean, he did leave far too early, and the audience loved him.

If I had a vote, it would be Sarah from Season 6. :D

Jessica (8) would be alright too, but I don't know if I could handle her and Jordan in the same house.

I'd laugh if it ended up being Kaysar again. They've already given him way too many chances.

I will also be doing a weekly webcast with Janelle to fill the void left by the Cancellation of Housecalls.

It will be a call in show that will talk about the feeds and anything and everything else going on in the house and being talked about on the internet.

I will be in studio while Janelle will be in NYC, but will be as good as sitting next to me co-hosting the show (well, as good as for you people, but I am getting jipped.)

We will also be doing a “He said, She said” type blog or column.

I liked Jen.

Couldn't stand dick, mostly because the house guests have a thing with egotistical males (dick, dr will), where instead of just voting them out, they vote everyone else out so they can be the one to take out the egotistical male.

They must leave rationality at the door.

Meh, too much of camera pander for me. But if that is what folks really want, complete vitriol it should not be hard to "hire" another dick to get ratings up.

Sorry, I'm bored and not purposely trying to bump this thread all day long, hehe.

Season 8 Jen got a chance to talk to each houseguest for a few minutes.

Casey
Age: 41
From: St. Petersburg, Fla.
Occupation: Teacher and DJ
Status: Married with two kids

Jen's Take: Casey seems very nice -- talkative without being annoying, charming without being creepy, and interesting without being too much. He is a fifth-grade teacher and nighttime DJ with two sons and says his family is No. 1, with his love of music at No. 2. Living without both is going to be tough for him. He is also the oldest houseguest and the only houseguest with children. He is a little scared that his wife will be jealous while watching him and wishes he had spent more time talking to her about his game play. He has no set strategy, not because he doesn't know how to strategize but because there really isn't a way to plan anything without knowing the rest of his housemates. He probably will be a character, and people watching the show will like him. He has a good shot at doing well in the "Big Brother" game.

Lydia
Age: 24
From: Torrance, Calif.
Occupation: Special effects make-up artist
Status: Single

Jen's Take: Lydia is a fun girl who looks like she is really outgoing but is actually kind of shy and reserved. After meeting her for only a few minutes, I trusted her, and I think the other houseguests will feel that as well, if they take the time to talk to her. She hopes that her housemates will be open-minded, and doesn't like when people judge her or others. She loves music and will really miss going to concerts while living in the house. It is tough to read how well she'll do -- she wants to fly under the radar, but she has a lot to say. Among her many tattoos is a pawn on her finger; only time will tell whether she uses her housemates as pawns or becomes one herself.

Laura
Age: 21
From: Atlanta, Ga.
Occupation: Promotional model
Status: Single

Jen's Take: Laura is going in with a lot of gusto. She has been a big fan of the show since season 2 and says she is ready to go in and win. I think she may come across as a strong competitor to the other players, but that is not what she is concerned about. She is worried that her considerable cleavage will serve as a disadvantage, especially since she does not want to have a "showmance." She hopes that there are pushover-type guys in the house so that she can use her looks to manipulate them, yet she worries about how she'll be edited on the show. A self-professed "Big Brother" nerd, she has always loved to get all the details on the show and has spent considerable time on the message boards in the past. Laura may be the most cut-throat player this season by a long shot, so she'll either be out early for freaking people out or she'll last until the very end.

Kevin, aka Campbellicous
Age: 29
From: Chula Vista, Calif.
Occupation: Graphic designer
Status: Has a domestic partner

Jen's Take: This boy is good times. He's witty, stylish and loves girls, just not in that way. While on the show, he will miss his nine-year anniversary with his domestic partner. In his own words, he will fill the gay roll with "plenty of gayness" -- meaning, for "Big Brother" fans, he is more of a Joe than a Dustin. He hasn't planned much as far as strategy but says he does plan to hold back the fact that he is a former Jehovah's Witness, at least for a while, for fear that others will judge him. Previous gay houseguests have done well on this show, and there don't appear to be other housemates that would give him a hard time. He hopes that his parents, whom he hasn't talked to in years, will be told about the show and will watch him and maybe even be proud of him. I don't know if Kevin will win, but I think he'll make it to the jury.

Braden
Age: 28
From: Santa Monica, Calif.
Occupation: Surfer and model
Status: Single

Jen's Take: This was the one interview that was simply awkward. General consensus so far in the media is that something's up with this guy, but no one is sure what. The Santa Monica surfer boy comes across as cocky when it seems that deep down he's not. He started watching "Big Brother" when his friend Nathan was on season 4, and he thought he'd like to do it this year ... then bam! He is on. Braden's hobbies are surfing, which he's done all over the world, and talking to girls, which from my experience is a little surprising. Looks like Laura will have a guy she can use for the season. I don't really think that he will go far in the game, but people's in-house personalities vary widely from their interview personas, so who can really tell.

Chima
Age: 32
From: West Hollywood, Calif.
Occupation: Writer
Status: Single

Jen's Take: This super single girl, as she puts it, is full of life, fun and has a very positive aura. She is very bubbly, which will either be a great asset or her greatest downfall. She says she is going to downplay her energy for at least the first couple weeks so people don't think she's annoying. While she is excited to go in and play the game, she really hopes she doesn't get put on slop. If she wins the money, she will first pay off her school loans and then take a trip with her mom and grandma. Fully anti-showmance, she assures me that if there is a guy in the house she finds attractive, she will wait until after the show to pursue him. I'm not sure if Chima is mean enough to win the game, or has the will power to lay low when she needs to, but time will tell.

Russell
Age: 24
From: Walnut Creek, Calif.
Occupation: Real estate broker and MMA fighter
Status: Single

Jen's Take: This Mixed Martial Arts fighter seems to have a good handle on life and the "Big Brother" game. On my first impression, he seemed to be thinking two steps ahead, always planning for what was going to come next. Although that is great in this game, it's not great if people know that's how you are, so we'll have to see how he acts around his housemates. He really hopes there are no criers in the house, as he doesn't know how to handle them, and he seems to have a lot of life experience, which comes in handy in this household. He will likely make it at least halfway with his competitive drive and charisma -- that is, if he can lay off the fighting for a few months. He also hopes that he doesn't encounter his perfect person while in the game because he doesn't want a romantic relationship for anything but strategy.

Jeff
Age: 31
From: Norridge, Ill.
Occupation: Advertising salesman
Status: Single

Jen's Take: I vote Jeff as the houseguest most likely to get played. He seems too nice for such a cutthroat show and is going into the house wanting a fairytale romance. He thinks meeting someone under these circumstances would be an amazing story to tell. Although it sounds all nice and dandy, we all know that you don't move into the "Big Brother" house looking to date. If anything, you want to go in and avoid such a thing. Besides that deficiency, Jeff seems like a really genuine guy, even living by the motto, "Treat others as you'd like to be treated." Another positive is that he comes from an athletic background, so he has a good chance at endurance and physical challenges. Will that be enough to overcome his overwhelming niceness?

Michele
Age: 27
From: Pasadena, Calif.
Occupation: Neuroscientist
Status: Married

Jen's Take: Michele is sooo excited to be on the show. She is a super fan who has been watching since season 2. Besides that, Michele says, she has the brains to get to the end of the game. Although she may be right, I think that the second she tells her housemates that she is a neuroscientist, they are going to have her on their brains as someone to get rid of. She plans to hang out under the radar. That strategy may work when a rocket scientist shows up as her housemate. Here's hoping she gets away with being a super smarty-pants.

Ronnie
Age: 30
From: Belpre, Ohio
Occupation: None
Status: Married

Jen's Take: W.O.W. in the house. For those of you stuck on World of Warcraft, "Big Brother" is a great way to detox from the gaming life. I too was a serious gamer, and now I'm clean! Ronnie has a very gamer-type personality. Gamers are very good at gaming, but they also tend to be somewhat antisocial, and "Big Brother" is a very social game. Ronnie is also a national speech and debate champion, which probably means he is a good talker. And when I think "speech and debate," I think Eric (from "Big Brother 8") on steroids, so that will be fun to watch. Overall, Ronnie has a good shot of making it far in this game, if not to the end.

Natalie
Age: 24
From: Gilbert, Ariz.
Occupation: Blockbuster manager
Status: Single

Jen's Take: There are so many things to say about Natalie: She is a manager, which means she is used to having power over people; she is a poker player, which is helpful in this game, as any good poker player knows how to pick up on her opponents' tells; and she was also the bronze medalist in Tae Kwon Do in the Greece Olympics, which shows that she has determination. Overall, she has so much to offer in this game that I can only imagine she'll go far. That is, if she doesn't get trapped in a showmance -- she says she's not looking, but I think she and Russell have a ton in common, and if the chemistry is there ....

Jordan
Age: 22
From: Matthews, N.C.
Occupation: Waitress
Status: Single

Jen's Take: Jordan has to be the sweetest person of the season, at least from her first impression. She was one of the "Big Brother" recruits, which means that she had never seen an episode prior to a month ago. She says that not having access to the world won't be that big of a deal considering that she doesn't have Internet access or a computer. Jordan is really excited to move into the house so she can have her own bed, as she currently shares with her mom. I'm hoping she makes it at least to the jury house so she can have the full experience, and so she can win some money to bring home. That said, I think the only chance she has of getting anywhere in this game is if others notice her sweetness and use her to further their own goals. People will see that she is not a threat.
