So baldy has a new poetry book coming out and he's doing some book signings across North America. There's also word of his playing some acoustic songs.

BILLY CORGAN POETRY BOOK: IN STORES FRIDAY

Billy’s collection of poems, “Blinking With Fists” will be available in your favorite bookstore from this Friday, October 01. Billy is quoted as saying, “I think the poems have their own personality and are a lot closer in spirit to me as a person, as opposed to my song lyrics, which I believe deal more in pieces of me.”

Billy supports the book with a 14 city tour commencing October 12, consisting of signings at major book stores and intimate “evenings of poetry” with special guest Yungchen Lhamo.

Why should I even care about this? I'm sure it's terrible poetry. I've met him, I've got lots of autographed stuff, but that SP freak burried deep within me wants to go. I haven't even listened to SP in over a year, but damn, that obsessive part of me got excited when I saw this.

Must. Resist. Mediocrity.

The Mirabeau room is two blocks from my girlfriend's apartment..... God dammit!

MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY.

We need samples.

the river runs south/thru barrios and ghettoes and starched neighborhood squares
and everywhere the dogs howl
I don’t even trust the sound of my own voice here
my own impermanence haunts me, but this thought alone relieves the pressure
from the mirror to the gutter, gutter tongued
my heart speaks to the silence in me
let me walk alone/home
as the dead stoplights wave goodnight
—from "The River Runs Foul"

*gag*

Resist! Just think -- YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO PAY TO GO TO BOOK READINGS!

Looks that way, at least for some of them.

Hrmm...I only see one in WA and one in BC available at ticketmaster. Hopefully the MN one is free. I'd like to see Billy Corgan, but if I have to pay for mediocre poetry...fuck that.
