Check out his old solo project, called Zwan. I loved that album, must buy it again.

It's like one of those classic sideproject albums rock stars do that happen to be really good, like Slash's Snakepit.

Saw Smashing Pumpkins live in Stockholm last year. Amazing concert and Billy himself was in top form. When they did "Eye" I was in complete awe, it was so powerful, so enchanting, especially when 10000 people started singing the ending of the song with Billy constantly encouraging us to chant louder. One of the biggest highlights for me when it comes to concerts and live music.

Being an old guy I've seen a lot of concerts but smashing pumpkins is one of my favourite memories.

Went with my girlfriend at the time, she wasn't a big fan but at least appreciated the show. Great set, cool light show usual fans and appreciation. Show felt short, casual fans leave, my girlfriend wants to leave but I mention there is something up.

Eventually Corgan and the band comes out and says to turn house lights on. Stadium doesn't comply. Corgan yells "TURN ON THE FUCKING LIGHTS" they do and the stadium is nearly empty.

Corgan says "good, now only the real fans are here" they jam for another 20 mins, just bouncing sounds off each other, you got a real idea how they composed their stuff. Great experience, really memorable.

Setlist shows 1/5 show was missed by most of the casual fans. This was in 1996

What time is it?
Thankfully I graduated in '96 so I didn't have to suffer through 1979 being our class song. Other than that, I like Smashing Pumpkins though I don't think I've heard anything after Adore.

I never listened to TSP in the 90's, but after listening to them occasionally over the last few years, I agree that billy does have an amazing voice. Very distinct.

Smashing Pumpkins has been my favourite band for the last 22 years. Still listen to them daily. Billy Corgan is an amazing musician along with James. And Jimmy is godlike on drums. Can't say I like Monuments To An Elegy. It was a shit album. Billy and co. have gotten me through some tough times. Could never get into Zwan. I liked TheFutureEmbrace as well when everyone was shitting on it. There's an awesome song called Bit5 that he performed live during the FutureEmbrace tour. Wish there was a recording of it. I got a massive Smashing Pumpkins collection. Love the band and everything about it.

Can't wait for the Machina reissue. Want to hear the properly recorded tracks from Machina 2 that we never heard the proper studio versions of. Going to be great. Nice seeing people warming up to Machina the last view years. Great album but you got to listen to it properly to love it.

It's not the same when someone else covers pumpkins because Billy's voice is unique and raw. You can feel the emotion

Yeah they don't really make them like Billy Corgan these days. That spell from the late 80s to the early 00s was fucking awesome for guitar music & Smashing Pumpkins played their part.

Mellon Collie, Adore & Machina are still on my playlist to this day.

Lol Zwan is 97% SP + a sprinkle of something else

But it's still a sideproject and it's still amazing. Glad you know about them!

That's why I compared them to Slash's Snakepit (the first album, not the second one) as although that's a Slash sideproject, it's still 97% Slash.

And then you got Slash and the Conspirators, with Myles Kennedy who from that band I can't remember the name of.

Recently saw them at Download Festival i’m not a huge fan but he sounded pretty good for being away for so long.

It's not necessarily good imo, but he is an artist beyond measure and that's what truly makes it not even matter a bit. If I think about it, his voice is very strange and unique for a male but like I said, he's perfected songwriting, singing, lyricism, capturing a mood and theme, directing music videos he is a genius imo

I love Billy Corgans voice. It works really well on songs like Disarm. His voice has this really raspy quality that makes every lyric very emotional and aching. Easily one of the most important frontman's of the 90's.

yeah disarm is amazing

smasshing pumpkins have a weight to their music

their stuff has this analog feel that comes from a real place, makes modern artists seem very hollow

very unique
