Yep... that is called "fayuca" (buy things in USA and sell them in México)... It's a very common thing around Xmas holidays, people rush to buy them because the 'fayuqueros' sell them cheaper [a PS2 costs around $250-350, depending on the store].

Is the PS2 even out officially in Mexico? GC was launched in Mexico officially the same day as the US. Xbox hit sometime in 2002.

Yep... not so long ago [relativity speaking] but yes. PSP is not officially out here ... and the Xbox 360 will be on February...

Kmart will be having the GBA SP for regular price (79.99), but with Metroid Zero Mission and Spyro Orange included for free on Thanksgiving Day. With the DS and PSP long since released, is it even worth it to get on any more? (I've never had any portable systems.)

The GBAsp is well worth owning if you're an old school gamer (as in not some twat that insists "touching is good" because Nintendo tells you so). There are gobs of great games available for the system with no real end in sight. MZM will also get you off on the right foot since it's really quite good.

Then you can use that Spyro game to trade-in towards Sigma Star Saga. ;)

I'm going the GBA route as well soon, and I owned a PSP. It's definitely a viable system with tons of great games, but also tons of crap and tons of pirated and broken carts. Personally, I'm ponying up the extra $20 and getting a Micro because it's the most portable version and also the sexiest, to my eyes.
