Black Nintendo DS [hawt!]

I think this deserves its own thread

Here is a first sneak peek at the black Nintendo DS version. Nintendo first intended to release the Nintendo DS worldwide in different color variations, but decided to go with the silver one only for maximum production efficiency.

I don't know why Lik-sang would fake it, and a black one is surely inevitable. But it does look like a photoshop. The black in the highlights looks just like when you try and make a light colour black. Its very difficult to do properly.

they need to get over this "platinum" nonsense and do a purple one. certain nintendo fans have convinced themselves that purple is to blame for the gamecube's failure. these people are silly. purple is an excellent color for nintendo hardware. it reminds me of the snes.

You can't be serious? Sure, the indigo color didn't cause the system to fail, but no one these days is making consoles with outrageous colors unless they are limited editions.

i almost entirely blame gamecube's failure on unpolished, dated, sparse software. purple doesn't even figure in. i suppose this thread will now be derailed.

Don't worry, I won't say anymore about the post other than it made me scratch my head for a second.

The Nintendo DS should be produced in these colors....

Black cubes have been available since day one, yet people still bitch about the purple color.

Because for awhile, indigo/purple was the official color of the system, appearing in product shots sent to stores and the press, and was the first color officially unveiled.

It did a lot of harm. I think I actually slapped my forehead when Nintendo showed it off for the first time. I was wondering how a company with so much on the line could get the U.S. so wrong on how the mainstream reacts to certain colors.

Platinum should've been the primary color form day one. I don't think it would've ever had the "lunchbox" rep if that had happened.

modern nintendo fandom is largely founded on contempt for "the casuals," but is it really inconceivable that gamers at large have a rough idea of the gamecube's library, and have decided that they aren't interested? does it have to be the color or the marketing or god knows what ephemera that have brainwashed them? your insistence on looking past the obvious is perhaps commendable, but i think it's led you astray.

Why are you always so upset with the Nintendo fandom? Go and play the games you want and stop care what others enjoy.

considering the disparty between the sell rate of early black gamecubes and purple gamecubes in america, I'd tend to disagree. It's a shame, I actually prefer the purple gamecube to every hardware design this gen, but I can see why I'm in the minority.

Also, is it any more inconceivable that said casuals never bothered to get a rough idea of the cube's library simply because they had seen the machine and were not interested? Just because you don't like Nintendo's games doesn't mean nobody else does.

That's part of the problem, but you're equally guilty of ignoring the obvious if you believe the official indigo color didn't have some hand in the GC's image problem. And image can be a large dictator of what content a machine receives.

If a black DS does come out, i'll wait out buying a DS, plus the price might be lowered by then too (I neeed the price to be lowered, especially with the outrageous Canadian price)
