Damnit, so i was constructing this huge thread on blind melon and shannon hoon and the last thing i did was go to get a picture and i accidentally closed firefox. So this is the greatest thread in the world....tribute. Early this year i got into blind melon and i haven't been able to stop listening to them. The band fucking rocks. There has been no music like it in the last 20 years imo. Shannon Hoon's vocals are powerful and energetic, the guitar riffs rock, the lyrics are poetic and moving. A few great songs (besides no rain) are as follows:

Yeah, you are probably thinking of the right band. I think Shannon and Axl were friends, at least they knew each other. No Rain was their big commercial success, but they have so many more good songs.

Shannon Hoon is(was) a guy. He died of drug abuse in 1995.

What's the song that they had the video for when he died? The scary one in the convertable where Hoon looked like he would die right there? That song is fucking awesome. I got their first album when it dropped and really enjoyed it.

I never heard the second album, but the first was very diverse musically. It's a shame how he went out, but I mourn Layne Staley more.
