It's less a successor and more a game in the same genre. We know there will be another Souls game, and NamcoBandai/FromSoft would be fools to leave money on the table.

I think the lack of Souls in the title shows they're not looking to cross the streams too much.

well they are changing the combat and the combat is what makes it demons souls or not.

It seems more of a spin off than a spiritual successor.
