Cartoon Network today announced several major acquisitions for their venerable Toonami action-animation block. Fan-favorite Naruto will join the block in the third quarter of 2005, while One Piece will move to Toonami in May. Toonami original IGPX will expand into a full series from Production IG. The Batman will see a Toonami airing beginning April 2, ShoPro acquisition Zatch Bell will start in March, and nosehair-fighting anime Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is coming in the fourth quarter.

Teen Titans will air 17 new episodes in the coming year, Justice League Unlimited has 23 new episodes on the block, and Duel Masters will return with 26 new episodes. D.I.C.E. and Dragonball GT will both also continue with new episodes.

:O :O :O :O :O :O :O :O

haha naruto liscensed also FINALLY. i cant wait to hear the cries of all the naruto fans :)

OMFG! Bobobo!! YES! This show is so awesome. I guess a lot of the jokes will get lost in the translation, but its awesome that Bobobo is being dubbed.

This also bodes well for a release of Jump Super Stars on the DS. Americans will know who more of the anime characters are now.

*True fist of nose hair!*

Edit: How can DBGT have new episodes? They played the finale two of three weeks ago.

Whats so good about a manga bout pirates? Never got into it, but whenever i go to GA forum everyone seems to like it..

It's only the best Shounen Jump series of all time.. nothing too special.

P.S. BOBOBOBO on American TV = OMG WTF. Also, Gash Bell rocks and will surprise a lot of people who didnt watch it before.

Plus unlike many Jump series it's actually kinda original and fresh in some spots (cases in point: Narutoball Z and the many, many instances of "15 page black and white advertisement for some fad or toy" that plagues the Japanese anthology)

I think they skipped over chunks of episodes and now they're advertising them as "lost episodes."

Yeah, that's true. Almost all of the major franchises in JSS are now in the US in both manga and anime form.

i usually cringe at the thought of hearing anime in english, but i'd actually like to see Bobobo on Toonami. The series kinda has a Ralph Bakshi feel to it.

Bobobo~ Shit yeah! Also, more exposure for One Piece is always nice. Glad they're moving it (will it still air on Fox?), but 4Kids already screwed it up, so I don't know how salvagable it will be. Sanji's voice is the worst one yet. :(

Also, from ToonZone:

Joe Murray, creator of Rocko's Modern Life, is working on a new series for Cartoon Network called Camp Lazlo, the network announced today. The show will follow the quest of a monkey named Lazlo to earn merit badges at Camp Kidney, a camp for Bean Scouts.

Hehe, now that Naruto is licensed, it should be interesting to see how the subbers deal with this one. I think for One Piece, they chose to leave you-know-who alone because they're the only group doing it. But Naruto is a whole different ball game. :)

Although I usually love dubbing in imported cartoons, Dub Sanji sounds like ate rocks and dick for breakfast. I HATE YOU, 4KIDS

One of the good groups doing naruto already said they won't drop it. Also, looking at about the dozens of licensed anime in the past and how many groups continued them, it really is no big deal. Even Gits: 2nd Gig is still being subbed while several groups -- who do licensed stuff -- had to drop it.

And I think One Piece will still be in its butchered 4kids form. I donÂ’t think cartoon network cares enough to re-dub the whole show. Maybe edit in a few things back in (like guns -__-;) but IÂ’m not holding my breath. Like naruto, subs will be where IÂ’ll get OP (seriously even an awesome dub has over a hundred episodes to catch up toÂ…) and IÂ’ll be starting to read the manga today so the anime will be secondary to me after the manga.

dub sounded interesting

I saw this htread and got really excited and then i saw i was the one who made it.

thats weird.

is there a link to the trailer online?

havent seen one yet, but i think it just started airing tonight. seems to be on every other commercial break

the 'sneak peak' just finished airing. i forgot all about it and missed about half of it.

of what i did catch, pickle = pickles, and don pachi = don patch

odd changes

VA for BOBOBO is... meh

most of the translation stayed true to the ep, with only a few parts straying from the original...

didn't catch any logo of who the hell is doing the dub, as the end credits were zoomed out and tiny.

tomorrow is the 'official airing'

I only saw a couple minutes of it (which, of course, means that I don't have the slightest idea WTF was going on), but I was surprised how much Japanese text they left in and didn't bother to translate all over the place.
