Jackfrags has played it, looks amazing and would love to play it but sadly with how I get vertigo even watching a couple of minutes of this makes me feel like I am going to puke

Well I get vertigo, AND I also get sea sickness when I’m on a boat in the ocean, AND motion sickness when on a helicopter (not a plane), yet these first person games don’t cause any of that. However, VR does.

So is this game VR, PC, or console?

PC

It’s made by two guys so I’m sure it’s going to be 40$ max.
Apparently on their discord they've said it's going to be $30. Not sure I'm going to get it on release for that price as it seems quite high for what it is in my opinion, especially with in app purchases. Will keep my eye on it though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard its a 17 and a 21 year old. These kids are about to become millionaires and I couldn't be more pleased for them.

This will be the first of MANY cool niche games that look AAA thanks to UE5. I suspect we will see a boom in games like this akin to the 2d indie game space back when 360 opened a new market to indie games (example - something like limbo comes out now it wont make millions because they are ten a penny).

Looks very cool. You can bet people are going to be modding out all of those effects in multiplayer though.

When it looks this realistic it's jarring to see obviously fake things like the plasticky blood splatters. It should drip through the grate or disappear on those surfaces.

Indie horror has already been doing this for a hot minute. It's a novel approach and looks damn good for the perspective. But it comes down to gameplay and what's the game like.

"This game plans to unlock in approximately 1 hour"

As long as it has private matches Ill likely buy it, I doubt it will have bots. Unrecord looks way better, just my opinion, I get its single player.

Gotta admit, I’m jealous that this ain’t on PS5
I wouldn't be for Bodycam, but for Unrecord, I could understand. I think it was mentioned above with the x post that a lot of their assets are from the unreal marketplace store. I fear its just a money grab that will be abandoned, basically riding some other games coat tails. I will know soon. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because its early access, but we'll see. No private matches is almost a deal breaker for me.

I really can't understand how that footage is not being played in VR, there is no way it looks as fluid as that playing with keyboard and mouse or controller

Looks very interesting and I wish those two guys all the success. I do get the feeling though that once people get over the new perspective and realistic look of the game, it'll lose players pretty quick unless they can release a decent stream of content.

The fact that these guys are very young also makes me wonder if they'll stick the project out for the long haul, life changes fast at that age!

So can we expect to see impressions and reviews on YouTube any minute now?

There seems to be conflicting release times, steam says @ 1PM EST. I see another post with dates/time below.

Region Local Release Time
United States (EDT) Jun 7, 7:00 p.m.
United States (PDT) Jun 7, 4:00 p.m.
United Kingdom Jun 8, 12:00 a.m.
New Zealand Jun 8, 12:00 p.m.
Australian East Coast Jun 8, 10:00 a.m.
Australian West Coast Jun 8, 7:00 a.m.
Japan Jun 8, 8:00 a.m.
Philippines Jun 8, 7:00 a.m.
South Africa Jun 8, 1:00 a.m.
Brazil Jun 7, 8:00 p.m.

Still haven't played yet. What's the consensus with motion sick bros?

Just from watching videos im almost positive It would bother me after a while. The thing with these hyper realistic games is that they have to cripple something whether it's your vision or intelligence to get the realistic feeling. Who am I kidding, im buying this game because it looks somewhat realistic, but after a while thats going to fade away unless they bring many features which CS already has. IMO games like this are better suited for single player until they get it right, this is an attempt, which again unrecord visually does better, better looking locations, better animation, better sound.

For a two-man dev team, they have an absolutely vast list of terms and conditions. I was going to post it in a spoiler tag here but it's too long for the forum.

Choice excerpt:
Users of our services are required to be vigilant when engaging in the use of our ultra-realistic games. Failure to heed this warning may result in legal consequences in case of incidents related to the user's alertness state.

It's got a lot of fake headnod and bobble stuff in it scripted into the camera (and i don't know if there will be a keystroke for lean or if that's scripted to, but you could do it either way.) The fluidity gives it a great look on video, but it's coming from the camera interpolating motion rather than there being such detailed M+K finesse. It'll more up some of the drama for you with camera motion.

Playing it might be a different story, as a normal game tries to tie the camera view to player motions for accuracy/fairness and tracking comfort. Players expect their movement to be what the game does you.

... I don't know yet how these bodycam-style games work out in play and over a prolonged combat scenario. My theory (which can be disproven any minute now by somebody who plays this now that its out, but i kind of wanted to write it down so somebody could commentbon for actual play compares) is that you would feel the game doing stuff for you, and that also that the control precision can't really be there with so many abstractions of viewpoint and targeting centerpoint. It's telling that combat in all of these bodycam games are based on twitch-adrenaline encounters, with lots of "oh shit, shoot!!" moments, rather than precision shooting. (That said, three decades of FPSes later, we could try something different, and this idea might be fun as a style... plus, it's not like most FPS players are good at FPSes.)

I'm curious to see some impressions and reviews.
