Yeah, so I finally bought me a laptop and it's a 4K HP Envy. I went on Vudu and Prime Video to try out the 4K, but it seems it's only allowing me to view HD content and not my UHD/4K content. I thought that maybe my laptop wasn't actually 4K, but I checked out a YouTube 4K test video and it was outputting 2160p and true 4K. It looked beautiful. So, does anyone know what the hell is the problem here? I'd LOVE to be able to watch my movies in 4K, but it seems something is wrong or I am being limited somehow. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate some help on this matter as I'm stumped.

EDIT: It seems I can view 4K videos on YouTube, but not on streaming services.

Are you using the app or the web version? AFAIK Netflix's web version only suppports 1080p or something similar

It seems to depend. I have a streaming box, and when I went to rent 1917, it wasn't 4K on Prime Video, and I had to hop-scotch around until I found a provider it was 4K on.

We've gotten used to 4K, but I think it's still a little Wild West-y in terms of adoption.

Try one of Prime Video's exclusives like Upload or Tales From the Loop. Those are meant to be in 4K, and if they aren't, I guess some stuff like Prime Video simply doesn't support it via website.

Prime video has separate links for 4k and regular versions I think. Make sure it says - Movie (UHD 4K) or something like that.

A quick search says most streaming services don't allow 4K on PC. The Netflix W10 app should though.

Remember Netflix restrict 4k to their highest tier, and I believe they don't offer it on the free trial.

I think I was able to view 4K video on the Netflix Windows 10 App. That’s the only place I’ve been able to view it other than YouTube. It does let me use it on the free trial as I have the UHD option. I wish Prime, Vudu, or other streaming services would let me do 4K, but I am just happy I’ve got something.

Lot of streaming apps are not supporting 4k through Windows 10. Netflix does only through its app and amazon prime suppose too but can be iffy. Disney + is limited 1080p on Windows.

To check resolution on netflix press ctrl shift alt D at same time it tell you bitrates resoltion etc works on all browsers and app

Keep searching OP 1366 x 768 HD resolution. WLED is what I found I'm running on which is down from 1366 x 768 HD resolution. WLED I had.

You may need to use the windows 10 apps for the services you’re using.

Netflix required at least 7th gen kaby lake Intel cpu and hevc video extensions installed
