JACKSON, N.J. (AP) — A boy is recovering after he was hit in the face by a bird while riding a roller coaster at an amusement park in New Jersey.

The collision occurred as the Kingda Ka coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson was returning to the station Thursday.

Park spokeswoman Kristen Siebeneicher tells the Asbury Park Press the boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries to his face and neck.

The 45-story Kingda Ka coaster, which reaches speeds up to 128 mph, was shut down for 30 minutes.

Boy says it was going to be fun, but it wasn't fun at all.

This is a fairly regular occurrence at Cedar Point.

I've seen birds explode on people's faces on that first Millennium Force hill.

Wonder why they shut the ride down. Maybe to make sure it was a bird?

False advertising. He didn't eat it he got hit in the face and put in the hospital. Not nearly as funny!

I haven't seen it happen at Cedar Point myself, but I would hope it wouldn't be one of those monstrous annoying seagulls that flock around that place!

Still one of the most amazing moments in sports history. I remember watching that game on TV when that happened.

You were watching a weekday, midday, spring training game? Didn't think they even televised them outside local markets and even then it was rare because who watches TV at 1pm during a work week.
