Fuck him for snubbing animation

But if he reached the pinnacle of animation and decided he had nothing left to prove, I could understand. He's not even in a generous top 50, though. Aleksandr Petrov can spit in my face if he wants.

Edit: I should say that I watched it on Cartoon Brew earlier.

Awesome. I forgot how awesome Iron Giant looked.

EDIT: WATCH THE VIDEO GUYS. You guys are worse than the gaming side.

aw brad bird, i'll still watch m:i4

Speaking of, are you Pixar fans hoping that he does well, moderately, or poorly, money-wise, and do you want him to keep switching or to stick with 1 permanently?

Here's a link that skips past the unfortunate look back at Brad Bird's misguided past and goes directly into his heartfelt, spontaneous remarks upon accepting an award for his previous career.

i'm not particularly fond of the mission: impossible franchise, but i'll watch it just because it has bird's name on it.

he still needs to prove that he can do live-action, though (i'm sure he could). i'd actually be fine with him sticking to live-action as long as he gives me "the incredibles 2". :(

I'm gonna agree, nothing will top Ratatouille

but filmmaking can still be fun

Iron Giant, mang.

But that kitchen scene was spectacular, reminded me that I need to watch it again.

As a fan of Mission: Impossible despite one good and two mediocre movies, I'm hoping he does well just because I want a great M:I movie. I've kind of given up hope of it having any kind of subterfuge or stealth though, it'll probably be Cruise blowing things up by karate-kicking them again.

i hate it when people go hollywood but look at what hollywood did to eddie murphy and so many others. we shouldn't even be surprised at this point.

i guess between conan's new show and this there's pretty much zero chance of a classic simpsons revival. :/

That was funny, but you could tell pretty quickly that the speech was 'faked'.

It was the reason for the speech that was hilarious.

Tom Cruise is so cool. No really.

Not sure if serious.

That was the best thing I have seen (this week).

I love Brad Bird. Reminds me I need to track down Family Dog again.

Read the thread title as "Big Bird ..... etc."

Needless to say, I leave disappointed.

Please. Brad Bird would snap Big Bird's neck and feast on its blood. Such an awesome dude.

Tom Cruise is trying very hard to be an internet meme... this almost works

Congrats Brad Bird, The Incredibles was and still an amazing movie!

We have no problem with directors coming in and out. Spread the love everywhere, I think. If one worked at Pixar, I assume one can do some good elsewhere.

Same for James Carter of Mars and 1906. Pixar for everyone means good for everyone.

You're missing out big time on two great ones.

Yep, the MI1 train sequence and the opening to MI3 are a must for every action fan.

Eh, depends on you're expectations. The traditional M:I formula seems to have been transferred to movies like Ocean's 11, while the M:I movies went more towards "sneak through the ducts and take out the guards". The first one was the best, and I hope Bird can bring back a little of the subtlety that the second and third threw out a window.
