BrokenLore: ASCEND is a first-person psychological horror experience that follows the final, desperate climb of Ren and Yui, two famous Japanese rooftop climbers obsessed with outdoing themselves and feeding their fame.
Their channel, SKYLIMIT, has turned them into icons among fans of illegal urban climbing, leading them to the Elysium Tower, the tallest tower in Japan, for a nighttime ascent meant to become "the ultimate video."
But the higher they climb, the more their ascent turns into a nightmare. A supernatural presence, the Rokurokubi, an entity with a serpent-like neck and a face hidden behind an ornate mask, begins to manifest. Yet the true horror lies in what it represents: the embodiment of their deepest fear, the fear of being forgotten, of becoming ordinary again, invisible and irrelevant.
For Ren and Yui, falling means more than death. It means obscurity, the end of validation, the loss of the only meaning left in their lives.
ASCEND tells the story of a race upward that becomes an escape from oneself.
In a world where identity exists only through the eyes of others, stopping is a sentence.
But what happens when the only way to break free is to stop climbing?
