BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 22, 2004--

Games for PlayStation(R)2, Xbox(R) and Game Boy(R) Advance to be Released in 2005

Buena Vista Interactive, a publishing label of Buena Vista Games, Inc., today announced that it will publish "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge" for the PlaySation(R)2 computer entertainment system and Xbox(R) video game system from Microsoft in North America. The games will release in October 2005 along with BVG's previously announced "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King" title for Nintendo Game Boy(R) Advance. Capcom(R), a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games and developer of the console titles, will publish the PlayStation 2 title in Europe in 2005.

"`Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas' is an incredibly rich property that remains popular and highly visible throughout Disney theme parks and merchandise from Disney Consumer Products. The console game platform provides a compelling medium to extend the movie's characters, storyline and environments and will help expand the franchise to new audiences," said Graham Hopper, senior vice president and general manager, Buena Vista Games. "We're excited to continue working with Capcom Japan, the developer of the game, to enhance the title as well as adding the Xbox platform to our launch plans."

"Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas" movie was the first feature-length stop motion animated film ever created, and has become a cult classic. Using this method, still pictures of puppets were shot frame-by-frame and played at film speed to produce fascinating, unique characters that moved smoothly and naturally on screen. The result of Tim Burton's visionary genius was a breathtaking world with amazing, unforgettable characters. Since the movie's first release in 1993, the property has extended to DVDs, consumer products and theme park experiences, generating hundreds of millions of dollars.

Capcom and Buena Vista Interactive, in association with Tim Burton and other creative talent from the film including Art Director, Deane Taylor, have collaborated to create a thrilling action game that brings the Nightmare Before Christmas world to life like never before. Gamers and fans will enjoy an unsurpassed experience that is action-packed and true to the spirit of the property with engaging gameplay elements, original characters and voice-actors from the film, beautifully rendered visuals and the ability to explore the bizarre and fascinating Nightmare world.

"Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge" is an action-adventure game that continues the story of Jack Skellington and his arch-nemesis, Oogie Boogie. Players assume the role of Jack, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who must help reclaim the town and save other holidays from the mischievous Oogie Boogie and his henchmen. Jack has a variety of attack options including the use of the all new and amazing "Soul Robber", costume changes with unique attacks and more.

IMO, the game's not crap. My main beef is with the camera. Many times the camera angle conflicts with the combat and controls. I'm actually playing the PS2 import right now and overall I'm enjoying it but then again, Im a huge NBC fan so I'm being forgiving about certain things. I'm near the end and my main disappointment is that there isn't enough "other" holiday levels to play. Just HalloweenTown and ChristmasTown. Coincidentally, I was recently thinking that Capcom would drop the game because they already missed the holidays and it wouldn't sell worth a shit out of it's season. Looks like I was right but BV picked it up. Hopefully the added year will be used to fix some issues but I kind of doubt it.

+1 buy for Xbox... I always thought this would be the game that would make me buy a PS2. I'm a big Tim Burton and NBC fan. *plays Jack's Lament*

Wrong. Both versions have been contracted out to TOSE Software. Studio 3 is just producing the game but actual development has been contracted out. Similar to Sega-AM2 and Virtua Quest (also being done by TOSE).
