About 8ft wide, probably putting in a grill and sink if I can find time and money.

Got the glass railing up on the deck a couple weeks ago.

Hi,

Yeah, so far I've had one strange day with the glass (other than that, it's rained and snowed and seems to have kept itself clear). A high humidity morning made it look like shower glass that wouldn't look clear until mid afternoon.
  • The screen is actually vinyl and produced by carl's place (carlofet.com). Typically you buy the EMT pipes from Home Depot and the screen material from them, and put the screen up and down when you want.
  • This screen is their 21ft x 9ft screen. There is no cleaning it (if you think birds pooped on it, you can wash it off with a hose). I did leave mine up all year and it suffered, lol, not meant to do that.
  • I would say you may be surprised by the price, but not sure of everyone's budget. For such a large screen, IIRC it was $300.
  • Also, the county had me take it down. :) Not allowed to have 6x6 posts going into air that high, haha. I still have the screen material but the posts are only 6ft high now, so I have to figure out a way to remount the screen as necessary.
I'm still trying to figure out this small kitchen area, I had a nice unilock patio area before this that I destroyed to build this part of the deck.

My dog has degenerative disc disease and she's not allowed to use steps anymore (that started at 7, she's 9 now). So I wanted to build a spot where she can sit in the sun (otherwise I would have done a step down deck here).

This is the ramp built for her.

Do I miss my old yard right now? Yes a little bit, but it may be because I haven't figured out how to garden the new area correctly.

Covid hasn't stopped me but I am definitely cautious and take the necessary precautions when interacting with others.

Sounds fun, OP.

I"m an apartment dweller, but if I ever owned a home, I'd love to do. I love to cook and entertain.

One of my fav food YouTubers has an amazing backyard kitchen--he's a professional as well--Sam the Cooking Guy.

I'll check it out. Yeah I'm confused on what I"m actually supposed to put in this kitchen! There isn't a ton of room, so I'm debating adding another small 3ft island in front of it.

So far I've figured out:
  • Natural Gas Grill (not sure on brand yet, local landscape shop is pushing Blaze)
  • Sink (I pulled a stainless steel one from the basement bathroom project I never finished lol)
  • Ice bin for drinks
  • Need to get a licensed plumber to run the gas line and water/drain
Seems like a proper outdoor kitchen (if I was any type of chef) might also need:
  • Sear burner
  • Separate single burner (for sauces?), I've seen people mount these low/under the countertop (guessing so wind doesn't affect it as much)
  • Pizza oven (these are expensive if not wood burning)
Struggling figuring out furniture, it's not a very wide area (9.5 ft), but 15ft until the kitchen (which will decrease if I put in that 2nd island).

Wanted to fix low spots in the yard left by the bobcat tracks (should have laid down mats or plywood, argh). Had a couple yards of soil delivered (minimum yardage) and it's way too much to fix the problematic parts of the lawn, so I'm trying to "waste" it here by creating a mulch bed and flagstone path.

Ran out of flagstone (of course). Will try to complete this today.
